Last night my buddie works his stack up to 1100 and I tell him might not be a bad idea to call it a night and book a big win. I tell dude OK if your going to play be careful because your prone to melt downs and your play should be more oriented to stack preservation at this point.
Of course he just throws this all out the window and gets involved in this hand where he is up against the only guy that can hurt him. He raises on the button and the big blind makes a big three bet. BB is a solid player and almost certainly has a big hand and he is extremely hard to get to fold his hand. My buddy on the button calls. Flop comes A93. BB leads out and bets 75, button calls. Turn is a ace making the board A93A. BB checks and my buddy bets 200. BB thinks and calls. River is a blank and BB leads out and bets 100 and button goes all, BB snap calls. Button turns over Q9o and BB tables pocket AA.
Bam 1100 gone in one hand.
I'm like dude you Q9o!!! First mistake calling the 3 bet with garbage. Then he says post flop that he thought the guy had pocket KK and he could get him of the hand. I say dude did you not see him call 3 big bets from Asian chick with bottom pair? He probably would not fold KK and most certainly will never fold an Ace. He says when the second ace came out it was not likely he had one. Hmmm, impossible for this guy to have AK??? I would three bet your button raise 95% of time with that hand.
Maybe my game is a little exploitable but I turn the aggression meter down when my stack gets big and I'm in hands with other guys that are deep.
Seen it happen twice that night to two different guys and even the dealers all comment on how a guy that has more than a 1000 and losses it all will almost always leave the casino broke.
Also see this crap happen a lot where it is late and you have 750+ and game is short handed with 4-5 players and none of the other players has more than 100. What is the point of even playing in this game when your upside is so small?
