#2No need for standings until after a few months. This is a marathon that seems to last a few yearsComment -

#4Nah, they started dropping the ball last contest and only updated periodically towards the end I believe. Weekly standings would go a long way to making the contest more suspenseful...not putting them up is the equivalent of just checking espn for the score after a game you bet on, not as much fun as watching the action!Comment -

#10On reason for sbr not posting the standings has to do with the IP address issue. They probably want to wait a few weeks to see what region people will play for.
To give you guys an idea about how many US players there are here is an example. I finsihed 2nd last year on the US team but I believe that only 10 people made it. I think that we had MORE daily tournaments than we do now, but the limit was 36 per tournament I believe. Also, the prizes of each tournament were not as much as today.
On any given day, there were about 100 players from the US playing. Of those, probably only about 60 of those players were active daily. I think that Canada had about 40 players, Europe had 25 maybe and the World had about 20.
My point is that standings at this very moment are not that important since some of the guys who will NOT play most days might have won a tournament or two. But after about 2 months, we will know who the guys are from the US who really have a chance. But we have to give SBR a chance to see the IP addresses of various posters to determine what team that they qualify forComment -

#14I can understand this sentiment, but put me in the PO camp on this one:
This thing is waaaay too freakin long... absurdly long for a not-too-exciting-series. World Cup is the worst series here for various reasons.
Posting standings the last couple months is sufficient, IMHO.
Mark the calendar boys, this might be the only time Bite and I disagree on just about anything!Comment -

#15Well of course SBR knows 90% of the players playing, but there are some newbies playing this season for the first time. It might take a while to accurately determine where they are playing from. I remember from the last contest that we had a few guys who were on "vacation" in the US for a while who claimed to live overseas. I dont remember the exact situation, but it didnt cause any problems
I just said to give SBR a break on the standings until late May. Near the end, I am sure that we will have daily standings updates.Comment -

#25. I have a 5% rollover rate. Cashed 250 Monday, rolled them in 5 minutes. 100 on the river in omaha and then 150 in my first hand at holdem. Pole Dancing pays much better and you don't have to earn it twice and you don't have someone riding you about quitting every day
