What they don't realize if they go to a state by state basis is that these rooms will be turd ass dead. Anything is better than nothing at this point though.

Cant wait for people to see the difference between real tourney poker and the tourney poker offered by PS and FT. Some have never played a lot of live hands. Not enough to know that 70% edge only loses 30% of the time in real life, regardless of who has a bigger stack.

    Wileout,
If they could even get online poker to 75% like live play I would be one happy mofo. I won't be happy when the tax man rings my doorbell though lord help us with how much they will probably tax us at.

Well I did my homework on this bill. If they pass a poker bill 1 thing will definitely happen, and 1 thing will likely happen that. Both are really bad news for online sports gambling.

    1. There will be a 50% deposit tax on all deposits to unlicensed gambling sites. This would include every sportsbook whether it has a poker room or not. So if you deposit 1000 dollars you owe 500 in taxes immediately. No matter if you lose the 1000 or not. You would still have to pay income tax as usual.

    2. There will LIKELY be a trade off for this bill. Americans would get regulated poker and as a result there will be a strengthening of the UIGEA for unlicensed gambling sites like sportsbooks. If this happens it will probably mean the end of online sportsbetting.

There will also possibly be a new tax introduced on winnings from illegal offshore gambling sites. It would probably be a tax meant to totally put an end to anybody wanting to play offshore.

The bottom line is that they are going to throw online sports betting and online casino betting under the bus for regulated poker in the USA. So you are going to have to decide whether you want poker (USA regulated) or sports betting. If you want sports betting then these poker bills cannot pass. But I would bet a lot of money that they will pass something for poker and against sports.

It will be interesting to see how they enforce this. The sites are suppose to pay this tax but if they don't the depositor is expected to pay them. The sites will scoff at this tax and they aren't going to hand the player's info over. So I'm not sure how they would enforce this.

There's a lot of good things that would come about this though. If poker is legalized and taxed, it's possible that sports betting won't be far behind. They would take a step back at the moment just like poker has. I just hope they don't haste to put something together without thinking it through. The guys making this bill aren't poker people. This bill will probably be amended several times over before it's passed or vetoed.

If by not far behind you mean only having the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL in the way then yes, its wont be far behind.

You are right about this. Sports betting will never be legalized on the national level. At the most maybe 1 or 2 states in 150 years will have legal online sports betting outside of Nevada.
