So it's been a while since I posted in this thread ( before he was found )

Guess I was just trying to avoid that Dave was gone for good.

I wasn't a close friend of his by any means but I did meet him once in the Mid 2000's as I was a guest of a friend of his in Las Vegas
my first thought of Dave was he didn't like many people because he was a little standoffish at our little get together

Most of us was discussing games and when he talked about them, he didn't have any emotion.
I thought maybe he didn't like that i was there among these seasoned handicappers, so I just stayed quiet.

Out of the blue, he says to me, Who do you like ?

I said that I wasn't a handicapper and only gambled. He said, so you just pick the games out the Air ?

We had a good conversation that day. I learned a lot of little things from him.
two things that I will never forget, one, read as much information on a Team and game as you can, and two, never believe everything you hear.

Dave, you will surely be missed . Sorry I never got to know you better

We tend to romanticize the fallen. Dave did not love that. He stands on his own merits as the best lens for those seeking truth and applying it to modern day markets.

my last message from Dave:

hell sometimes I appreciate the banter as much as the scores, but the philosophical side action last longer with us than the money ever can anyway. We can't take the money with us when we go, whether the other stuff is allowed through customs is something we won't know until we get there.

We should keep the thread alive.

I'm guessing you've never been up in the higher mountainous regions of Nevada. It can become extremely cold as the day gets late. Factor that in with Dave being 57 years old along with dehydration and hypertension, you can find yourself in trouble real quick.

Experienced hikers will tell you, even if you're in peak physical condition, it's best to never go hiking alone. A simple day hike turned into a tragedy that would have been prevented if Dave had a companion hiker with him.

I haven't looked at or posted on SBR since Dave was found. I was avoiding dealing with the reality that Dave is gone. I am surprised at how much it hurts, and how much I miss the interaction with Dave. I suppose it is because I have always had an appreciation for coaches/teachers/mentors that shared their wisdom, as I am most happy when I am learning.

My hope is that we can try to carry on Dave's legacy by "keeping the band together" going forward, and have a place where we can share ideas and collaborate as we continue this journey called life.

Not just the interactions, but I respected the mans opinion so much, that I find myself saying "I wonder what Dave would have thought about _____(fill in the blank). And it has been very sad every time. I miss all the interaction in PB tremendously. I have a few ideas about how to pick up and run with something, however big, in Dave's honor. Hopefully people come back in here and keep their eyes out for an announcement. I want to try and have something for football. We shall see. Hope you are well (considering).

Feeling the same way. I check here constantly for any thoughts or updates. Was at the Memorial. I will support anything you guys decide on. I feel a terrible loss and would be a supporter any way we could get the education going again.

Hey Guys, I too have dearly missed our interactions with one another as well as David. Every time there is a big trade, a coaching change or a big free agent signing I can't help but think, I wonder what David would have to say about this.

I'm glad to see there is conversation and willingness to continue our journey together. I realize it will never be the same without our brilliant leader, but we can strive to continue sharing ideas and information while also keeping David's wishes of creating a civil place on the internet alive.

Oh how I wish Point Blank could keep going in some fashion. But it needs a dedicated host. I just can't even imagine who would or could? With something even approaching the energy Dave brought to the endeavor. I knew I would miss Point Blank after Dave's tragedy. It's been much worse than I thought. I practically quit playing baseball altogether. It just not the same without my tour guide. Now with football approaching I'm missing Dave all over again. It was remarkable how much Dave shared through Point Blank. His experience and knowledge and willingness to share and interact with the community was so so rare. He really is irreplaceable.

Not having Dave around to read, hear, and simply look forward to has left an ache that hurts always every day.
