A's might move to San Jose

They are just waiting on approval from Bud Selig.

If this happens will they change their name to San Jose A's? It just does not sound right.

This has been discussed for the past few years, with Cisco sponsoring a new San Jose stadium.

It's crazy how they bring up young players, the young players kick ass, then the A's dont want to pay them what they are worth so they ship them off somewhere else.

    Not good business, Athletics.

that's disappointing to hear. the a's are a storied franchise with many great passing through the organization, just doesn't seem right. and the moneyball era was cool even if it hasn't panned out much success recently.

but i suppose the winds of change are upon the team. they draw such lackluster support, and that stadium is aging fast. i think when they made the postseason a few years back they couldn't even sell out those games.

Those upper deck seats in center field are a 1/2 mile away from home plate. Thank that fool Al Davis for that.

Lets not forget that the As started in Philly. They also played in Kansas City. They aren't really known as the team with loyalty to a city, nor a fan base that supports them.

Let them move, better than contraction. Not to mention we're about 10-20 years away from going the route of Japanese Baseball and just have a team sponsored by a corporation. No city name. Just a brand.

The Cisco A's. They could play anywhere.

I heard Raley Field was built to be added on to. Don't know how many more that small area could hold, but it'd be nice to have a professional (Cats are good, but not pro) baseball team here. Being a Giants fan, though, I couldn't switch to the A's. But I'd go to the games, for sure.

They're trying to go to Anaheim. The city already approved it and has allocated around $100Mil for them to go there. They'd play in the arena the Ducks play in.

I just threw out a name. I definitely agree with you, Wyoming folk have no souls. I have driven through that state multiple times, and it is a complete ghost of a state.

In all seriousness though, I'm sure there would be a market for a MLB team in a lot of cities: Indianapolis, Charlotte, maybe even Las Vegas?

San Jose is a great city. Trust me when I say that most of the games will be sold out. So many professionals work in south bay area and dont have any pro games to go to besides sharks in nhl. People hate traveling in traffic for 40 miles to see A's or giants. If its right up the alley in san jose, the games will be sold out. Look at all the shark games...most of them are sold out....we love our sharks. I am sure we will treat the A's the same way.

The Warriors have one of the most loyal fan bases in the NBA based on consistency of high attendance numbers. It's obviously a valuable franchise considering what it just sold for and how many big investors were interested even during a time when there are ownerless teams nobody wants. There's nothing wrong with Oracle- it actually holds more people than the Staples Center.

Of course it's a whole different story across the parking lot. You've got to watch your back while you're in the Colosseum as if it were a prison yard, and we're not even talking Raiders games.

I heard that East Oakland is very tough. Is that the reason the A's get no public?

The present ownership of the Giants bought secure in the fact that the South Bay (San Jose area) was part of their territory. If the A's move there its a huge infraction of the Giants' territorial rights, the Giants will be suing everybody in sight if this is allowed.

Good advice. The same applies to the entire area around there after a night game.
