Question about Newark, NJ, jjgold or others

I am applying for a couple of jobs down by NJPAC and Rutgers, Newark. How is the area around there and around broad st. station. I know parts of Newark are pretty grim. How is the light rail service? pretty consistent? I am going to get robbed if I have to walk around there?

I used to work on halsey in newark. Took the path from nyc to newark penn and either walked through gateway center and over broad or took the light rail. Both options are doable, though it was always light out for me.

Once there was a shooting on the section of broad I crossed, but it was midday and I was at work... the lightrail is pretty reliable and cheap too.

You will be fine newark has really turned aroundd. Just stay away from the southside of newark and you will be fine. Police patrol heavy around the broad street station. By the NJPAC and Rutgers are also heavily patrolled. I have been a proud NJ resident my whole life
