    Is the NBA Rigged?

    Serious question. Think about what you are saying if you answer yes. Doesnt it appear like most of the times the officials do a good enough job and try to get most calls correct though?

    Depends what you're referring to. Do big name teams get far more calls in the playoffs? Absolutely. Do teams get calls or throw certain situations to cover or not cover? Probably not.

    Oh yes, I think it is. I saw few tv shows about it, also read many articles. I think there are many rigged refs, and also players, who can bet for example for under/over player point, or something like this.

    Does indeed have to make you wonder particularly what happened to that ref a couple of years back. He provided information what appeared to be legit. Certainly, the spotlight has been on the refs in the NBA ever since he left...

    Back in the day, shot clock operators would manipulate the shot clock for 'total' purposes.
    Can't do it anymore in the internet era, but pre-internet days, when it was much harder to spot, shot clock operators would sometimes not start until 5, 6 seconds after the ball is inbounded.

    Do the math, more time = less shots taken.

    no... Even Mr. Donaghy couldn't guarantee a win. His rigged games were only paying out around 70%. And while thats high it's no guarantee.

    Who's making the call to rig a game? Who actually fixes it (players, coaches, refs)? Vegas doesn't need to fix the games to make money. It's funny when someone loses a side or O/U they they auto tout that it's fixed but Vegas doesn't need to risk it, they win money other ways. They've got futures, quarters, halves, props, other games, other sports etc.....

    So the answer is a resounding NO. There may be a bad apple in the bunch fixing a situation here or there for personal gain but there is nothing to be paranoid about.

    course it is. every sport is. Look at the cricket world cup. Youve got england who set the biggest run chase vs ireland and ireland got it who are crap! 327 they had to chase down and they did it. Ireland couldnt chase down 200 vs bangladesh they only made 178. England also made 294 vs australia 2 months ago or so and that was the biggest run chase ,ade at the MCG ** the venue which they played at ** then not long after that made 336 and that was chased down. England destroyed Australia in the ashes series just days before these one day games were played.

    Ireland was also 5/111 yet with 5 wickets ledt made all those runs. Now we have the corrupt Pakistani's who have been caught match fixing bowled all out for 178 vs crappy ass canada. Just giving examples of match fixing and also in rugby today some players got done.

    To answer your question yes the nba is rigged as is all sport. disgrace.

    How can one sport have some many different ways of officiating the rules?

    One way for superstars, one for bench players, one for 1st qtr, one for 4th qtr, one for the last minute. One set of rules for the playoffs, another for game 7 and another way for the finals, etc etc

    Of all the major sports, the NBA is the most likely to have fixed games.
    The Donaghey situation proved it was happening at one time or another.
    The totals lines in itself are way to sharp IMO. So many games off by 2 points or less. Way to uncanny.
    One day a HUGE scandal will erupt (after Stern retires). I have a strong feeling the NBA image will be tarnished in the next 5 years.
