Weekly Betting Roundup for February 14-20, 2011
B. Sharps / Head Linesman / Legends

Hello players! Hope you had a good week; let’s get right to the action for Monday, Valentine’s Day. The players picked up wins in the NBA on San Antonio -7.5 Atlanta -4, and Portland -3 while the books countered with Charlotte +5 (small win, only the public wasn’t gun ho on the Lakers because of the long road trip) and Houston -2.5. In the colleges the players won Syracuse -5.5 small; the house won their big game of the day – Kansas State +6 – to even out things to start the week. Just an added note: in the two extra games the sharps had both under Hampton under 138 and Jackson State under 133, the Hampton game fell 137 and Jackson State went way under even with the smaller limits on those still a little painful for the house.

Tuesday on the NBA hardwood the players tabbed Miami -5, Chicago -10, and Golden State -3. The house came back a little with Utah +4.5 but still a strong start for the players. In the college board, the players won with James Madison -7 (a big second half rally), Villanova landing on 3 (sided the books), the very popular St. John’s +6.5, and Air Force +15.5; the books countered with North Carolina - Wilmington +4, Miss State +17.5, and Evansville +6.5 (squeaked in by a half point) to claw back to a wash for the day.

Wednesday, the busy NBA board saw the players grab wins on Orlando -12.5, Miami -9, Boston -10.5, the Clippers +1, Dallas -10.5, and Portland -5.5 to chalk it up pretty good. The books countered with the Cavs +11, Philadelphia +4.5, and Golden State +5 to get some of it back. On the college board, the players started out with a popular win on Purdue -5 (public and sharps), U Conn -2.5, Xavier -8, Creighton -10.5, Colorado State -4, UCSB -12, and New Mexico +9.5; in turn, the house punched back with Cincy -2, Vandy +3, Oklahoma +2, and San Diego +16.5 to once again push things around for the day.

Thursday didn’t get any better for the house as both favorites covered – Chicago and Dallas -2; the chi game wasn’t as bad as Dallas but the sharps liked the favorite to make the Spurs a need for the books. In NCAA, the players won big with Penn State -2.5 (it landed on 3 so buyback pushed and paid the winners on the favorite), Western Kentucky +1, Arizona -8, Washington -9, and UCLA -1. The books picked up wins on North Carolina State +3.5, Troy +2, Iowa +9, and USC +2 to balance out the colleges for the day. The books are going to need a big weekend to get out the hole the players have dug for them so far and the way NBA went all week the books may have a chance with only the NBA All-Star Game on slate for Sunday.

Friday the players won with Yale -2 and Princeton -3.5 and the house won with Harvard -4 and Virginia Commonwealth +9 to make a little money for the day, no real big decisions though.

On to the monster board for Saturday where the players’ winning games were with Georgia +5, Florida State -11, Missouri -5, San Diego State -11, Oregon -7.5, Kansas State -14.5, Alabama -10.5, Cincy -1.5, Michigan State -3 (fell 4, real bad game for the house, high volume game with very few losers and mostly winners and pushes), Marquette -7.5, Wright State -5.5, Fairfield -6, Iona -6 (heavily bet syndicate game that could never lose),St. Peter’s +4.5, Morgan State -4 (opener, it fell 5 and closed 5.5, another wise guy game that went poorly for the house) Idaho State -2 (another super sharp syndicate game; the three games from the best guy were Idaho State, Iona, and Morgan State), George Mason -4, and Long Beach State -5.5 (a rare RAS winner plus other sharps plus the public made this game really bad for the house also). The books weren’t left out in the cold, though, on this huge board as they had much needed wins on DePaul +11, Dayton +3, Nebraska +6.5, ASU +2.5, Boston College +12, Rutgers +12, Washington +2.5 (great game between two very good teams), UNLV -1.5, Rice +2.5, USC +2, Miami Ohio +9, Hawaii +3.5, Akron -2, High Point +3.5, Northern Arizona +3.5, and Boise +3.5 to end a long, long day. The books made a little progress back towards the black but still a ways to go with only Sunday left.

Sunday the All-Star Games was a split, books won the side and players won the total but the books did a little better because of more side action than on the total. In NCAA, the players tabbed Richmond -9.5 and Old Dominion -5.5; the books did a little better winning with Clemson +1,Saint Joseph’s +15.5, North Carolina State +10.5, and California +1.

Good luck players! Talk to you again next week.
