Panthers owner disses Manning, Brees in CBA

I wish Richardson had the passion to put a winning team on the field as he does looking out for his wallet.

when he got his heart transplant he must have got a mean one. Since the transplant he has fired his two sons from the team, ran the team into the ground by not wanting to spend any money, raising ticket prices and not being open with the people of Charlotte for almost two years. The guy has went nuts.

Interesting stuff. It's all politics, but still interesting.

As for Richardson, it kinda makes one wonder why players don't want to play there. Look at Peppers who left the Panthers and had a career year for Chicago last year. I can imagine Carolina might lose a lot of players like that who'd rather not play for an owner like that. After all, Peyton is technically a free agent on March 3rd and Carolina needs a QB, maybe Richardson should be a little more nice to him, just in case.

Peyton would probably be better off anywhere other than Indy if he could fit under the cap. Seriously, the Colts are an 0-16 team without Peyton and they are only getting worse with all of their key players getting older every year and recent drafts have been uncharacteristically poor for Polian, although in his defense, it's gotta be tough to draft near the tail end of the draft for well over a decade.

But, Carolina coming off a 2-14 season and with a new head coach would hardly be an improvement over Indy. I suppose Peyton would have a youth upgrade on the offensive line and maybe a talent upgrade at RB and maybe even WR, but Carolina's defense doesn't seem a whole lot better than Indy's except maybe a bit younger. If John Fox was still at Carolina, it might be tempting with just enough stability and experience/expertise, but with Rivera I'm not sure.

I am a Panthers fan and Jerry has really lost his mind. He gets too much credit for being a "former player" but that was ages ago and he's caught 15 more passes in the NFL than me. He comes off as a greedy old codger who sacrificed this season for his ball club to set up for a work stopage along with raising ticket prices. Now couple this with insulting two of the most beloved figures in the NFL calling one of them "son" and attacking their intelligence. Good thing Donovan McNabb or Michael Vick werent on the receiving end of that "son" reference, that wouldve created an even bigger media splash.

This whole thing is getting blown out of proportion.

Richardson didn't say anything Tom Jackson, Marcellus Wiley, Howie Long, Michael Strahan, or any of us haven't also thought or said a million times since the Brady Rule went into effect: QB's are pussies that get preferential treatment and it's gone too far. And you can't blame a guy like Richardson (having played back when pro football was still a game for men and not prima donnas, and having won as many NFL Championships with the Colts as Manning) for putting a coddled/sheltered putz like Peyton in his place.

And I think Richardson is doubly pissed, and has a right to be, at how the NFLPA has been shitting on the older veterans of the game for years. If I'm sitting in that room in Richardson's shoes I don't have one damned bit of sympathy for Peyton or for Brees bitching about current player safety, when they have made millions because of the sacrifices of those players that came before them who they so conveniently manage to forget year after year when it comes to their disability and benefits. If I'm Richardson my thought process is "fuk you two whiny babies."

That being said, moving the season to 18 games would be a huge mistake and I hope the owners are just bluffing for other considerations.

I do think Richardson wants a lock-out, and from the pure perspective as a Panthers fan, I hope he gets it so he can draft Luck next year. It would be selfish as hell, but then the best owners (Kraft, Steinbrenner, etc) always find ways to bend the rules to their favor.

all he is talking about is money, owners don't care about player safety.
