Poker Tourney Suggestion - Bonus spots for top finishers?
Hey John, how about a few open seats for those with the highest average finish playing, say, at least 4/5 of the dailies? Something like that. Maybe total of the 4 best finishes for the week. Lowest number(s) wins. Reward guys who consistently make the final table. but not lucky enough to win one.
So if you play 5 tournaments and finish 50, 15, 10, 5, 2 then your number is 32. Lowest number(s) wins. If you win one then you don't qualify for this.

I saw your idea in the other thread and I like it a lot!
Byt the devil is in the details. One problem is we will not know until nearly midnight on Friday who the wildcard(s) are. Of course we would also have at approach the sponsor for the 343rd time with a contest change but no big deal there Bodog already hates us because of the other 342 changes.
We will work wild card finshers into future tourneys. Its actually a great idea to keep guys driving hard to earn one or a couple of wildcard places. It will make the tourneys more exciting so thank you for the idea.

I like the concept also, but how did you come up with 32 ranking?? I added the 5 numbers where you finished, then divided by 5, came up with a average finish of almost 16th. FBT
maybe if you make 2 final tables in one week, you get in a saturday morning satellite to the main event.

John if you want players to burn more betpoints add an odds section in the SBR sportsbook.
How about a bonus for 2+ time winners in a week?
Love the initial idea. You already have 25 guys playing on Saturday, so you can either add 2 or 5 guys with the best average finish. That way you'll have 3 full tables or either 9 or 10 players.
Would be interesting for at least s's and giggles. Give last place 1 point, 2nd to last 2 points etc., add up weekly totals for a leader board.

I like the idea. Maybe the best one out of the 2nd finishers each day (out of the 5 daily tourneys) joins the 25 winners for the Saturday tourney with 3 full tables of 30 total players.

yeah, might as well have 30 peeps on the saturday. was thinking about that earlier. my only idea would be a points system. if you finish 10th u get 1 point, 9th = 2 and goes up to 2nd who gets 9 points. I don't see the point (pun intended) of counting beyond the final table.

Just so that there is some chance of earning a final table spot through strong finishes, without actually winning a tournament.
Not everyday I come up with a good idea, so I'll circle this one.
If SBR dececides to add more seats I hope they won't dilute the prize pool... Pump more points in far any additional seats please
im for this i got a second and a 4th but they prolly wont be able to do it till the next big poker event but id be for it

I like this idea maybe for a future Poker tournament set up. I think this would be fun to do.
Interesting idea. If it were up to me (which of course it ain't) I would
a) only count Final Table finishes toward this scoring/ranking -- players who were close but no cigar
b) set some minimum bar for qualifying at all
example: if it happened that it was a really inconsistent week and no one was really hitting the final table more than once, but Player Joe Doe finishes 11th, 12th, 15th, 15th, and 16th, this might give him a good enough average score without ever making a final table, vs someone who finished 2nd, 3rd, 24th, 40th, and 45th.
Also, if you do not use like a points based system and go purely on average ranking, you could have a scenario where a player finishes say 2nd and 4th on Monday and Tuesday, and then he doesn't play Wed - Fri as he has a disincentive to play since he has an average ranking of 3rd which might be enough to qualify.
Heck, if you played one tourney and finished 2nd or 3rd you might as well not play anymore because you'd be as good as qualified on your avg ranking.
Unless multiple players try this same strategy........
I threw out this exact same idea just last week in a thread about potential improvements to the poker championship... and I don't believe I got any response.Of course, I obviously like the idea and would love to see it implemented in the next week(s). John, maybe in order to avoid not knowing who the "wild cards" are until the Saturday morning, you could just use Monday-Thursday's games? It's not perfect, but it avoids that obvious problem, and in a sense, Friday's tourney already has the most significance because 1)it's the last chance for guys who aren't in to get in already and 2)the guys who have already won tournaments are known, and maybe won't want/need to play Friday?? The latter probably isn't true, but just my thoughts...
I think this is a great idea. It would be cool to see some type of leaderboard for poker. Some how involve the tournies and the cash games as well. I think there are quite a few who play both pretty well.
just giving this a little bump maybe in time for next week's action. still think my idea works best for SBR, I mean you could take the last 20 people in the points system. But I mean if I come in 28th or 45th place I probably don't deserve any points? Unless this would get rid of possible ties? That's the only way I can see a point of counting all the way down. hope this makes sense.

or you can put everyones name in basket and pick names like a lottery for extra seats to saturdays game..maybe a nobody can make the final game on saturday and play a game like he never played before. just another thought.
