If you have been paying taxes you have been helping to support Mubarak with billions of US dollars for years... Given this hard to see how clicking a like button on facebook has any meaningful significance to bringing about change...

Why, do you owe them points and figure you'll get out of the debt?

I live in hong kong, and I really dont think democracy will make things better, it is a super vibrant economy now as is singapore

I dont think there is a successful democracy in the middle east outside of Israel

democracy in china would be a FUKIN DISASTER , look at india, that is a democracy over a billion people, the worlds biggest shit hole

The truth is, most people (in America anyway) don't care if Egypt is a democracy or not. You're dealing with a population that has been lead by a dictator that has been a useful "friend" to the US. After decades of quashing dissent, with the backing of our tax dollars, you think people over there don't harbor any resentment to those who helped foot the bill?

The majority of people would support a dictator over there, if it kept gas prices in check here. Democracy matters (to most) here, not elsewhere.

This is sadly true. They were interviewing a lady filling up a Suburban the other day here in local news and asked her what do you think about the people protesting and dying in the streets in Egypt in the name of freedom and democracy and her response was: "I just hope this doesn't affect gas prices here".

    Total disconnection from reality.

I guess the best bench mark is smooth transfer of power to the winning party, but outside of that you are correct

    Hitler was democratically elected!

Quite aside from that, none of the above are/were majority Muslim countries. Islam and democracy are incompatible. If you don't believe me:

    a) Have a look at a map and show me a majority Muslim country that has an open democracy.
    b) Read a translation of the Qur'an.

Let's see how many clicks the page gets, when the country chooses to turn off the taps, go full theocracy and negate any truces in place with Israel.

It's great to see people stand up, but just don't expect the final product to be as accommodating to our own interests

Turkey, Lebanon, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Malaysia, Indonesia, Morocco.

Here it is. I just named you 9 countries on top of my head who have a Muslim majority and open democracy.

    Next question.

Turkey - How many governments has the army removed in the last 30 years?
Lebanon - Elections by ethnic/religious block are hardly open.
Bosnia - Is not majority Muslim
Kosovo - Is not even a country.
    Afghanisan/Iraq - Just LOL
Malaysia - Open democracy? Same party in power for 40 years and Affirmative Action in favor of the majority race.
Indonesia - Could be considered a democracy for 5 years at most but I will give you that.
Morocco - The parliament plays second fiddle to the King.
