That would be sick for a guy his age. I, also, don't believe it. I'd be shocked if he could run 4.6, which is pretty pedestrian for the position. If he had some burst/pop, I think he could compete for a spot. Also, despite his hard work in training, I can't see his body responding so well to all the contact. I give him credit for trying and wish him luck... But count me amongst the 'skeptical'.

    One injury, he'd be gone.

but that said, Jerry Jones is always looking for another act for the circus under his "big top".

with the lockout looming, he could be a excellent scab.

Hershel's a freak of nature physical specimen.
I doubt he'd hold up to a constant pounding, but I'd bet he be effective as a 5-6 play a game back

Plus he'd fill some seats for lesser attended teams....IE..Jacksonville

It'd be fun watching this unfold

In his book a few years ago, he claimed to have DID and over a dozen personalities....in addition to age, there's no way this could ever work.

    Yea I had forgotten that.

If a team wanted a fullback who would block, pick up bltzes and maybe catch a swing pass maybe it could work? Being about the same age I doubt he has any speed at all. But he could send a blitzing safety flying.

Again. the guy barely held on to a job for the last 3-4 years of his career based on reputation in his early 30's. Why would he all the sudden be better now?

Off the top of your head, without looking. tell me how many 1,000 rushing years Walker had in the NFL?

RB's are a dime a dozen in the NFL any more. especially since its more and more a passing league.

workout warriors, do not a football player MAKE.

the toughest part about aging athletes is recovery time. That's why out of all the major sports, you see the least amount of 35+ year old athletes in football and the most in baseball.

and it should really make you appreciate what Chris Chelios did, as hockey is a major contact sport

I've love to see it, if not from a pure novelty standpoint. I'm just curious if he could do it. Jim Brown made an aborted comeback in 1983, 17 years after he retired, but I don't think he realized what he was getting himself into.

For the stat junkies: In 12 NFL seasons, Walker gained 8,225 rushing yards, 4,859 receiving yards, and 5,084 kickoff-return yards. This gave him 18,168 total combined net yards. This isn't even counting his USFL stats, which were unreal. He was legit, in his day.

also stat junkies in his last 3 years in the NFL at ages 33,34,35

    he had

    126
    83
    20

    yards of rushing.

they didn't see him fit to get the ball back then, why would they now?

    sportsfun,

evander and bernard are both OLD. do you not see the difference?

Walker would be competing against opposing teams' 25 year old LB's

not to mention the 21 year old rb's he'd never beat out in camp.

I mean hell, an 85 year old guy could fight a 81 year old guy in the ring. does that mean a 80 year guy could play in the nfl?

Even if he still has some speed he would be on injuried reserve in 2 weeks or less with a 48 yr. old body.
