NFL to charge people $200 to stand outside Super Bowl stadium????

    This is just DUMB

For one-third the price of a regular ticket, NFL fans will be able to stand outside Cowboys Stadium and act like they are attending the Super Bowl XLV. The league announced on Wednesday that tickets to watch the game on large HD video screens on the east side of the stadium will cost $200.

They're calling it the "party plaza," because what's more of a party than spending two bills to go through a security line for the right to sit on a grassy knoll, pay $9 for a beer and watch a game that's freely available on television?

Tickets will first be offered to Cowboys season-ticket holders who will have to buy in blocks of four. The $800 will cover four tickets to watch the game, four programs, four scarves and a parking pass. Scarves? For that price, they better be Burberry.

"We've never done this before," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told ESPN Dallas of the league's plan to price-gouge folks who want to attend the Super Bowl without actually attending the Super Bowl.

Besides additional revenue, the biggest upside for the Cowboys is that those buying tickets to the party plaza will count toward the game's official attendance. Jerry Jones has expressed a desire to break the Super Bowl record for biggest crowd, which was set in 1980 when 103,985 attended the game at the Rose Bowl.

Here's a though, people can gather at the other end of the stadium and some people can bring computers with mobile broadband and watch the game on on one of the many sites that will have it available for free.

The best part is that they are going to count these idiots as being "in attendance". How is that possible? They are NOT in the arena.

    I'm getting angry.... haha

Maybe they need to have different pricing for tickets the further away you are from the stadium.

$200 for 50 ft from stadium entrance
$100 for 100 yards from entrance
$50 for 1/4 mile from entrance
    $25 1 mile from entrance
    $10 5 miles from entrance
    99c 10 miles from entrance

There's a sucker born every minute. It must be the scarf. Don't see how they can count people outside the stadium in the official attendance.

Exactly. You either pay the million dollars for the tickets and get INSIDE the stadium, or you stay at home and watch it there with ur own damn beer, saving you lots of money. Don't half ass it, and sit outside on some grass paying some outrageous amount of money

Its another place to watch the game, I don't see the problem. I myself wouldn't pay it. I would rather be inside but I'm sure there are other people that will. Hell a few years ago when I was in California on a a work trip. Hooters wanted something like $20 an hour in food or so to watch the game. I ended up watching it at Applebees.

Unreal the NFL finds another way to stick it to people. Here in Arizona I pay full game prices for pre-season games, I assume that's league wise?

Only way for this to not ever happen again is for people to boycott it but they will find enough sheep in Dallas area to sell it too. Maybe force Cowboys players to attend so they can get a free autograph or some other gimmick.

At Wimbledon (tennis), people happily pay the ground free to sit outside centre court and cheer on the Brits on the big screen, this is really no different, except both ground and centre court tickets are upscaled significantly for the Superbowl.

Have to agree with most in here this is a silly way to spend $200 and watch the game. But then, I'm guessing that some of the people who do this will think it's silly to sit around on a computer and post random thoughts 16 hours a day for six betpoints. To each their own, as the old saying goes.

yes, there will be several thousand that pony up for this sucker ticket. JJ and the NFL have no shame when it comes to sticking it to the fan base. People are just gullible and it's sad really! Parking will probably cost you another $100 or so. $12 beers. The list goes on.........
