Pro's and non Pro's its allllllll good. We made the program so that a guy would make money off being Pro. He may have a local or some other reason but if he wanted to make a few hundred dollars a year he would go Pro. One guy said he would rather buy tires. That's cool! Take care of your needs first. If you have the time and a couple of hundred bucks then you can join and have some fun with this. Besides double daily points Pro's get an anniversary bonus of up to 600 points, play trivia twice a week that pays 250 points, free poker tourneys 2x a week that dole out $1500 plus other perks.

I have my reasons for not going Pro despite qualifying from the beginning with a sponsor book.

If it means anything, I have signed up with a book through a link at SBR.

I am thinking of getting back online because: my local only does football: parlays and teasers are limited to sides, no moneylines, no bonuses. I haven't had an online account since I used betonsports.com a decade ago. What's the best? I will still use my local for the most part. Might play around with live bets, props maybe. And basketball. I used to be an online blackjack degenerate and would not like to see those days again.

You are so wrong. For a "pro" you have a lot to learn.

Ever think that to start with some people don't care about these points?

Again, you missed the point. Non-Pros will still come to SBR even if they don't get any points. SBR will retain at least 70% of the existing traffic and get at least half of that traffic to go Pro.

You are one strange cat, sickler. I would put you in the 1% of SBR members who don't apply to this conversation. Do you gamble, sickler? Give me a winner, sickler.

Strange because I don't care about the points?

Said from the beginning that they won't change the way I live, won't make a difference. 12, 6 or zero per day. No difference to me.

My excuse is I've been here for a few months and still don't know what being a pro means...I don't know what "prize pool" means...I'm not sure what points are for, other than to transfer to Dad and others, 5 at a time, for doing or saying clever shit.

I'm signed up with a few different books, 5dimes, Bet jamaica and Bodog, if that means anything...I once heard if you follow links to sportsbooks, they will give you different or worse lines/juice. I have no idea if thats true. But I didn't want to find out, so I go directly to the sportsbooks site.

SBR is a pretty badass site, with a crazy cast of characters. But I kinda don't give a shit about being a paid member to any forum. Thats what ads are for.

Whatever the motivations for not becoming pro it is a great marketing technique. It breeds vitriolic loyalty that can be seen via this thread, and many attitudes expressed on the forum, where both parties are essentially the same type of person, yet exhibit dissimilar behavior. Not all pros hold this attitude however, so it leads me to question if there is something different in the subset who do, or something similar which that group possesses.

In any event I think the insight into human behavior is fascinating. Parallels can be drawn to the Stanford prison experiment, segregation, racism and some atrocities humans commit against other humans.

this thread has gone to shit. You guys have completely missed the boat here. OP is talking about the forum members that claim to have $200 or more in a sponsored book and "choose" not to become a PRO. And that people make up the dumbest excuses as to why they don't become pro. The point is that if you qualify to become a pro(have $200 in a sponsored book), THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO LEGITIMATE REASON NOT TO BECOME A PRO. OP is NOT talking about the people that play with locals and don't want to deal with offshore books for whatever reasons. That would be a legit reason for not becoming a pro because you obviously can't become a pro if you don't have money in one of the sponsored offshore books. But excuses like the ones mentioned already: I don't want to give out personal information, I don't want SBR making $ off my losses, etc...are either baseless or just don't make any sense.

Pro's are cool, non-Pros drool. (joke, and for 2 points what kids movie is that a take off from?)

SBR appreciates everyone. The Pro program is simply a rewards program that rewards the direct supporters of the site. It also allows the sponsors to support Pro-only events and allows SBR to sell sponsorship of Pro-only events like SBR poker at a premium. Everyone benefits from the Pro program.

I'm a recreational gambler. I enjoy it as a hobby, and don't expect to really get any kind of major profit from it. I pretty much just build my points up, and cash it in for a Free Play on one of the sponsored books in the SBR store. I'm afraid if I put money in a book, that I might start chasing it after I've lost some of it. I've been there once, and have no desire to go back there again.
