SBRforum Looking for high caliber handicappers and writers

    Hi Guys!

SBRforum is looking to add top-flight sports writers and handicappers who enjoy writing to the team! Qualities we are looking for include:

    • Ability to not only gather data that is not regularly available to general public but to interpret what it means and apply an educated opinion. example: the Suns average 110 at home and Pistons average 80 away since the all star break suggesting a total line of 95. However which team has dictated the pace of the game of late? Which team average has influenced the spread more? What is behind the number?

    • Sports guys/girls who enjoy writing and handicapping and illustrating their opinions and breaking down events vs. printing only information gathered on sports sites.

    • Handicappers that enjoy math. Did you see the line move to 3.5 on NFL football and believe that it's hugely valuale to two teams that often play conservative and consistently low scoring game. Tell us the %s and why finding a book that moved to 3.5 on this matchup has value.

    • Humor and entertainment. During a hardcore two hour long capping session, it's nice to come across a piece that can make you chuckle. The delivery of the information counts!

If any of these sound like you contact picks@sbrforum.com (with "sports analyst" in the subject) to see if your a candidate to join our writing staff. No harm in trying! You don't have to be able to pick winners at 60%...just be able to enjoy research, writing and doing the leg work to give the assist to handicappers putting their money on the line. Please include a hyperlink to a recent sample of your writing, it can be a mySBR blog, personal blog, or other site.

The SBRforum writer is a paid position with room to advance to feature writer, full time blogger and beyond.

It depends on the experience, depth and style of the content and if per piece vs being on staff. A good blogger documenting his picks will be different than a Pinnacle pulse type series.

Lou that sounds pretty good here. I would give several a try here and see who does the best job. It sounds like fun to me. It would take some time to do and I do think your approach on this is to take people that is good at certain sports. Like I would hire someone for just football and someone for basketball. I don't think too many people are good at almost everything and that is almost impossible from what I have seen here. Yes I do believe your right that you have to be a good blogger to do this job. With so many of us having jobs already I think it would be a good part time position for now.

What sports are you looking for? Can someone apply for just one sport or are you looking for someone that can do multiple sports?

I sent an e-mail, sounds like fun! Hope to be considered. You should take a sample group of say 10-20 people that applied and have them send in a write up of the same game. Just a suggestion.

I would love to do this, not sure how good my "analysis" will be, but I'll sure serve up some chuckles though. What's the application process like, do we have to submit a writing sample or something?

No ceiling. Good writers will be marketed and become popular over time...possibly their own branded blog but its an investment in being able to do what you want to do. A new writer learning what works might get 20/ per and another has a career with nice salary. Bill Simmons can name his price.

I would like to offer my services for this job posting. I have various handicapping tools in my arsenal. I have one method I have dubbed the Currency. The Currency is not theoretical in nature but has an actual physical form. I attribute a unique variable to each plane of the instrument for dual outcome sporting events. I then physically toss the object so that it turns in mid air with the aid of two of my appendages. When gravity makes the object land whatever plane is facing upwards is the variable I choose as the positive outcome of the event. I then work to find meaningless statistics to assign to this outcome that justify its choice. When this is not enough I cite vague emotional awareness or false insider knowledge as further justification.

If the progression of outcomes prove to be unsuccessful I continue along with this method citing bad luck, cheating and/or variance. If the method proves to be unsuccessful over a larger sample size I have another tool I have dubbed the pseudonym which is implemented for a time before I use the Currency again. Whatever the case the methods become successful in the long run.

    Get back to me.

Who's here even capable of writing anything past 3 sentences anywaywithout boring the average poster to death. Keeping it simple like Gold, three to five words, the more operative way to go
