#5bodog knew this was going to happen. they trasnferd all there usa players to bovada.lv maybe a spy in the feds. woudln't put it pass them.
but this is why every sportsbook is transfering there names. i think 5dimes is the only one with a .com name, they have to be thinking about switching right?Comment -

Yeah .com and .net are registered in the U.S. others like .eu are in other countries so the U.S. would need cooperation from another country to seize a domain not registered in the U.S.
There might be more than .com and .net but .lv .ag .eu are all safe from the censorship of the U.S. federal governmentComment -

#14Ok good. Fukk our government. It's a joke that this is the kinda thing they're wasting money on. A grown man can't even place a bet on a sporting event. This is pathetic.Comment -

#21as others have said, .coms are under usa property rights because they are registered there. any sportsbook would be stupid to have their platforms on a .com server now. and are just asking to be seized.
so what they have a bodog.com name. bodog i am sure transferd their monies around, they aint dumb.
just realized, i am playing at a .com book. sbgglobal.com but they are hopefully too small time for the big powerful government.Comment -

#22drunk drivers have killed more people and ruined more lives than gambling ever will
add to that abuse of alcohol
yet you can still ply yourself legally with as much booze as you can swallow but place a wager online and the fbi is involvedComment -

#23We all have Senator John Kyl to blame for all this. He started all this. Old man that had nothing better to work on.
This all comes down to the USA not getting it's cut in the action. Online gambling is illegal, but it's ok for me to walk
into a local casino and sit down at a blackjack table and lose thousands? Casinos are popping up all over America now.
Lotteries have expanded to practically all the states in the USA. This is a country that encourages gambling.
Walk into a grocery store and you will find scratch-off tickets in vending machines or at customer service ranging from $1 to $20.
Greed and hypocrisy is all I can say.Last edited by tgoodm1; 02-28-12, 03:20 PM.Comment -

#26I was thinking the same thing. I have a money at a few dotcom books including BetIslands which is one of my favorite books. I have 2 questions... are all of these dotcom books really in danger of being seized? #2 If they are in danger of being seized... why do they remain at dotcom?Comment -

#29Worse yet... the Government run Lottery pays out just .50 cents for every dollar it takes in. If a Sporstbook did this... nobody would play there. The worst Casino game or machine of all time is still better than the Lottery.Comment -

#32When the Mafia used to run the "numbers" games back in the 1920's the government outlawed it. Then they just took it over and called it a lottery. What a joke.
They will do the same thing with online sports gambling in the United States.Comment -

When bookmaker got it's address taken they didn't miss a beat. Sites like betislands I wouldn't expect a problem. worst case maybe you have to call in bets for a day while they get the site moved to a new domain. I'm no expert just my opinion, but if the guys running the book are reputable and they aren't arrested and have bank accounts seized the domain being seized does little to hurt business. All it does is scare players which is probably the governments intent.Comment -
