Going To The Montreal Casino in Feb..Where Should I Stay?

Anyone from the Montreal area or been to the casino there? I'm looking for a cheap place to stay nearby. Will be taking a 2 day trip there from Toronto. Plan on hitting the casino and some strip joints. Maybe get an escort one night.

Any advice for a first time gambling trip to Montreal?

I was on the expedia site, tripadvisor etc.

Prob is you can't trust the reviews, cause you never know who works for the hotel, competition, etc.
I trust the valid opinion of my fellow SBR'rs more.

Btw JJ how did you like the casino there?

I've gone to Montreal for the past two St Patty's Day...I stayed at Maritime Plaze Hotel. It's on the corner of Rue Guy and Boulevard Rene Levesque, about 1/2 mile from the Bell Centre and a 2 minute walk to Saint Catherine's street - which is where you wanna be if you're going for a good time (bars, titty bars, food, shopping...). It was pretty reasonable, I think $80-90 USD a night and they have underground parking. I never moved my car the whole time, just walked to the bars/restaurants/Canadians game or took the subway when I wanted to travel further. There is a subway station across St Catherines Street, about 3 min walk from the hotel (right at Concordia University). There is a good bar at the hotel too. Happy hour every night and good bartenders.

If you're going for the casino, make other plans ASAP,the casino is one of the worst in North America, many tables have limits at min 50-max 500,their rules for Pai gow poker are different then the rest of the world, their payouts for sic bo and other asain games are lower then all other casinos.

If your going to play poker the rake is the highest i have ever seen, if you smoke and want to play poker its about a mile walk to the smoking area.

If you bet Roulette on a double zero board they don't give you back half your bet if you bet the outside and a zero comes up.

Now for the good news, heated indoor parking making it convenient to smoke joints and not have to deal with a freezing car when you leave the casino, their creme brule is fantastic.

Advice....since your in Toronto, hit the casinos in Niagra Falls or Orillia much fairer games there.

If your coming to check out the city with everything it has to offer come on down,if your going for the casino only...DON'T DO IT.

YES they do.. But they have a 25$ minimum bet.. And they don't serve alcohol.. ONLY watered down cokes filled with 2 lbs of ice, coffee, 7 up, and punch.. they are cheap bastards there. and the cocktail guys/girls are assholes. if you don't give them a tip, they stare you down and fight you, no joke... fukk em.. you can't smoke in the casino, you have to smoke outside in the veranda in the -59 deg weather in the snow with 29 other chain smokers that smell. you can't be loud or mock the pit boss or they'll boot you. i hate this casino. it's nothing like Vegas.. They all think they're king shit here. They act like Hitler. Casino is 4 floors high with 3,000 slot machines.. It's a horrible casino here. Go to Vegas.. much better.

If you want to know info about this place, ask me. i've only been there like 1,824 times..

Montreal is overrated as far as hookers, red light district

I was all over the City twice and it is not like Costa Rica and other Countries

The strip clubs are fukkin dungeons, old, girls ok but just like anywhere else

The regular girls in City are prettiest you will ever see though and great bodies

Good post man, I think I'll change my plans to a weekend trip to niagara, I can drive there in 1.5 hours and the casinos are ok. I've been to the old one but I'll try Fallsview this time, hopefully it's better than the other one.
About the smoking thing tho..as far as I know you can't smoke inside anywhere in Canada, unless the laws in QC are diff as they often are.

If you're looking to play poker, some of the Native poker rooms on the South Shore of Montreal allow smoking in the bar, right next to the tables. Rake is a little high, but you eat and drink for free and they have some good promos....way better than the casino. Snakes Poker Club is the largest.
