It's clear the University system of the United States is superior to that of China for certain. Care to elaborate as to who ranks ahead? Let's count number of prestigious academic institutions, giving you +1000, no limit if you can provide a country that ranks ahead of the States.
I also like how you find ONE LINE in my post and try to categorize me as delusional LOL. Care to argue against the rest of what I posted? I can barely hear your queef now.

#47Actually the majority of Chinese who have the financial means all want their children to go to college in USA. The ones that can't afford it will try and bribe Chinese custom officials for forged paperwork to get their kid stateside. The higher education system in China is not solid. By the time kids there are 13 their futures are pretty much determined by the government. Some of the major factories in China that house the workers have installed netting all around buildings and windows to prevent jumpers after a handful of foxcon workers jumped to their deaths.

#48China vs. US would be like Bama vs. LSU the other night
Many in this thread dont grasp how fast China is improving with a 1.3 billion population that's 99% homogenous, and motivated. Compared to 300 million divided sloth composed of every color under the sun. No contest. Not to mention they avg 20+ points higher IQ and arent 15 trillion in debt
You have no ******* CLUE what China is like on the inside. 99% homogenous and motivated? There are over 40 minority classes in China, as well as dozens of millions of young, EDUCATED and INFORMED people who are extremely dissatisfied with their government. What a joke you are. Did you even know that there are two tracts of human existence in China? Did you know that a rural tract citizen is forever ENTRENCHED and STUCK in the rural tract? Attending RURAL SCHOOL? With no ability to ATTEND UNIVERSITY? Meanwhile, if you're born in the cities, you're on a Metropolitan Tract, which allows public city schooling, plus eligibility for entrance examinations to all of the best universities in the country.
The fact of the matter is that China is so fuucking disparate, that they have to ARTIFICIALLY CONTROL which HUMAN BEINGS are allowed to live WHAT LIVES. 99% HOMOGENOUS? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.
And let's be real about WAR for a second here shitbag. You have NO IDEA how puny and pussy most Chinese are physically, just from being BORN in China. Even Chinese-Americans are twice the size of their little counterparts.
And what exactly is "no contest" - you don't call the shots because you can win a math quiz contestWorld dominance and hegemony isn't determined by how many science olympiad questions we answer correctly. For the stats that matter:
We've got about a dozen more aircraft carrier, with state of the art technology that China has no clue about. And let's be real, 20 points on your IQ isn't going to help shit when someone who's 20 pounds heavier with 20 more years of experience using firearms or advanced weaponry is pumping your dumpling making ass full of lead.
Get a clue, China isn't even CLOSE to what you imagine it to be. Maybe you can ask Dad and Mom to hook you up with a trip over there b/c it's real clear you've got no clue WTF you're talking about.
And I'm pretty sure some of that 15 trillion in debt, went to make Supercarriers, B-2 Stealth Bombers, Lasers that shoot nukes out of the sky, and a bunch of other star wars shit that the Chinese are decades from stockpiling. 30 years ago when we were well passed our "industrial conversion" we were already stockpiling after Vietnam. 30 years ago, Mao was trying to build a steel mill in every neighborhood in ChinaLast edited by MysteryMung; 01-12-12, 06:03 PM.Comment -

#50FoxConn workers threaten mass suicide. Sounds like one hell of a great place, enjoy it Emily.
I suppose in a country where worker strikes can be met with mass arrests, the threat of mass suicide is a more palpable one. Foxconn has gotten plenty of bad press over its Apple operations – a mass suicide would be really bad PR for the company.
Then again, this is some pretty high stakes negotiating on the part of the workers. Suicide sort of closes the book on any future … everything.
The labor situation in China is certainly far from perfect. In a closed society with no hint of real democracy, no real free commerce, a highly intrusive managerial state, and so forth, it’s unsurprising that workers are treated poorly.Comment -

Iraq use to have the 4th largest army in the world and was very seasoned in war battles. 100 hours into Desert Storm and the Iraq army was left with nothing.

#61The OP is about economics it has nothing to do with 'invading'. China could not invade the US but neither does it have any desire to so it is all moot.
MysteryMung's contributions are factually accurate but ignore just how far and how quickly China has moved in the last 30 years. It will become will world's biggest ecomony despite having an education system based on learning by rote and 80% of its population being subsistence farmers.
There will be massive social pressures as time goes on and clearly the Communist Party is not the ideal institution to manage the changes needed as the growing middle class begin to demand more freedoms and start to become resentful of the huge subsidies that will be needed to pull the hinterland up from poverty levels. All of that will be a fascinating process to watch from the outside.Comment -

#62I'm a high school teacher in Guangzhou and I can say with full confidence that 80% of my students don't want to spend the rest of their lives in China. They actually really love Canada which makes me puke (jokes, eh?).
China may become the world's largest economy but that's irrelevant. They will never be the military superpower of the world. The corrupt yuan will never be the international standard. One of the most underrated things that makes the US so powerful is worldwide cultural influence–whether it's some stupid Internet meme, Avatar, the iPhone, or Lady Gaga, when something gets popular in the US, it goes global. The same can't be said for China. They can have all the political power they want, but without cultural influence they will always be viewed as a fluke and not a true worldwide leader.
A war between the US and China is highly unlikely as well...even an economic war since that would shatter the global economy. The only "war" that will ever be fought between China and the US is on the cultural front and China is hopelessly outmatched in this regard. So much in fact that China is trying to step up efforts to curtail Western influence (music, movies, etc.) in order to create a more unified Chinese mentality.
As for this 99% homogenous thing...China actually has tons of different minorities...many of which admittedly don't like the US, but are also very critical of China. In Xinjiang Province (between Kazakhstan and Mongolia) you can speak perfect Mandarin and people still won't understand you. There are tons of Muslims who look more Russian than Chinese and the few I talked to really hate both the US and China. This is one of the least populated provinces in China but it still illustrates a point. Of course, Tibet doesn't need mentioning since we know their sentiments towards China. Many schools in Guangdong Province (where I teach) prohibit speaking Cantonese on school property and my co-workers take offense to this because the rule is trying to stamp out their heritage. Many people I've talked to in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan (China still claims Taiwan as part of China), think mainlanders are dirty. They also criticize them for using simplified Chinese characters vs. traditional characters. This may seem like a hollow point, but I've seen some folks get in really heated arguments over this kind of stuff. Outside the huge cities, especially Beijing, nationalism levels take a huge plunge.Last edited by Deep_Rest; 01-12-12, 09:44 PM.Comment -

North Korea is no concern to us. They talk a lot but that's it. Iran is going to implode on their own. The sanctions are hurting the people and Israel is dropping their nuclear experts on a regular basis. They are not a real threat to anybody but themselves.Comment -

I quit my job and cashed out my 401k. No way am I going to finance any more corruption in this country. I don't owe any of this money and WILL NOT pay. That is for youslavespeople with jobs to do.
FYI the sanctions are not hurting Iran. They can just sell their oil to countries that will just ignore the sanctions like Russia, China and all of Latin America. Israel resorts to these cowardly attacks because they cannot win a real war against Iran. Iran is not going to take this shit for ever and in short time they will rid the world of those trouble makers for good.Comment -

#68So you are an unemployed loser who took a 30% tax hit to cash out your 401k early. I'm sure you did well with that. So well that you still are living in America. Last I checked the Chinese and Japanese stopped buying oil from Iran. The Iranian people are panicking and the dissidents to the ruling party are getting more vocal by the day. So strapping a bomb to a kid and sending him into a bus full of civilians isn't cowardly but targeting and killing a nuclear weapon specialist is? Ok there Osama Hitler. I hope some US soldiers water board you with gasoline before kicking you out of the country.
The Iranian people were so upset with the sanctions that they trashed the UK embassy and hate the USA. Don't recall any Iranians strapping bombs to little kids, that's just the crap that FOX news feeds to the brain dead zombies. Also Japan and China are not going to stop buying oil from Iran. The US can get all those pussy NATO states to go along with the sanctions since they pay for their defense. Everyone else will tell the US to fuk off.
Can't wait for Iran to start sinking ships and driving the price of gas to $10/gal. because it will hit losers such as yourself especially hard.Comment -
