#72You absorb what you wish to absorb. You bash marines for pissing on a dead body ... then you say that people get what they deserve when they mess with the middle east. You talk about the helicopter attacking the camera crew, but you have NO MENTION of the guy with an AK and the guy with the RPG.. or how the crew mistake the cameras for weapons. It is a war and stuff happens. Sad to say but it is true ... how about the terrorism tactics of leaving babies strapped to bombs so they can blow U.S. troops up when they come to attend to the abandoned kids... The world is not perfect, but you have taken a very biased stance.Comment -

#73Saddam had WMDs. You forget about what he did in his own country? Just because he shipped them out when the Americans announced they were paying a visit doesn't mean they never existed.[quote=jjgold;5683305]I win again like usual

Linking previous threads it posted is not stalking. What you do to ThaddeusB, however, is certainly stalking.

#94- that is a great post, I wanted to say something like this too. I work and spend 4-6 hours a day keeping up on this as well. The level of misplaced arrogance from many SBR "Americans" is getting pretty disgusting. You guys should spend a little less time 'capping games and try and figure out what is REALLY going on in the world; I assure you it's far more important than whether Baylor will cover tonight.Comment -

She's biased? really? maybe a bit "general" than biased. I think that messing with any country without just cause is not such a hot idea. Can any opinion of the current state of affairs be spoken without any bias, short of doing a PhD on the subject,I think that it's pretty hard to acknowledge every angle of these horrible wars, and the rationale for them from both sides. Can you justify WHY those marines are even there in the first place? yes war is terrible, things happen, but war is not really necessary at the moment in my opinion. I realize it will never stop, not in my lifetime. But, do you not think that sovereign countries should be able to control their own destiny, right or wrong? The west seems to like that freedom / ability to do so themselves and I am guessing would really dislike it if say China just showed up here and started telling us we were doing it all wrong, don't ya think? I mean they did win awards from the UN for their population control polices after-all, maybe they know something we don't? What if the Iranian army set up shop in whatever state you live in because they felt, for example, that gambling was the ultimate sin and told you that they were there to "protect" you from yourself and show you the light by setting up check points and roaming the streets in tanks. Would you not fight back? I am guessing you would. Would you use kids strapped with explosives as a shield or trap? I am guessing you wouldn't. Their culture may seem to think that is ok to do so based on what you claim they are doing. Wrong by our standards? Sure, it's beyond disgusting; but, why is it that the western world thinks that it's ok to project their beliefs and way of life onto the people of the middle east and elsewhere? I do enjoy living where I do, don't get me wrong. I also think some of the things they are doing (in the mid east) are very immoral within the framework of our western belief system in a very broad sense, but do we really have the right to intervene? consider how many casualties have occurred in these wars relative to the deaths that occurred before and would continue to occur should these places be left to their own devices. Most people on this site are decent with stats and numbers, odds etc - are we helping these countries do you think? What do you think the over/under of atrocious deaths would be had we never intervened in the middle east - compared to what the the total will be now that Pandora's box has been opened?
Do you think that is why they are there though, truly? Do I agree with strapping kids/anyone with explosives as a way to fight back? Hell no, of course not. But allowing countries to control their own fate is a pretty big deal in my books. How much of this whole main-stream story line do you/we believe? Has it ever occurred to you that what you are told is not really what is going on? or if you think it's true, could it be that it's a partial truth? The point is, you are entitled to your opinion as well as the next person. Biased or not, this is what makes living here so great. But slamming someone for being biased when it's almost impossible to not have a bias here, is a bit bold, we all need to read a bit more, get our facts from multiple sources, and try and really understand the plight of everyone involved here. It's not a black and white situation. I personally question everything I read and hear, and see. Maybe we could all spend a bit more time asking whether we really feel this way or whether it's blind patriotism at work - not thinking for ourselves could be very dangerous at this point in history...not that I think following along like a sheep has ever been a good ideaComment -

I actually agree with you to an extent. i had a long talk with a vendor while i was over there. i asked him how he felt about everything. He said that there was alot more violence once Saddam was over thrown because he controlled the terrorist with an Iron fist! He said now they terrorist are all over the place and it is embarrassing that his government is not able to control them. (We are over there training the government and military on how to control without oppressing) He said he is happy that we are over there and he will be happy when we leave. He said he said he understands that this is what it takes to end a bad regime and help create a better future for Iraq. I thought it was pretty honest statement. I do not understand where the idea that we are terrorizing the citizens of Iraq. things could not be farther from the truth.Comment -
