Do you feel sorry for Cleveland?

This is their Super Bowl because we all know that they will never be in one on their own. I would really be embarrassed if I were from Cleveland and had the world talking about all the bad things that could happen to Lebron tonight. It's a shame they don't know we are all laughing at them and not with them. You really could have established a new persona to the country by demonstrating class and showing you are above all the hype that surrounds tonight's hate fest. But in true Cleveland fashion you will help solidify the stereotype of a broken city with little hope for the future. Cleveland this Bud's for you. Stay classy Cleveland.

It's popular and easy to denigrate Cleveland. You, like 99% of the other people who do have probably never been there, and are just a sheep following the herd. The people there, like a lot of other Midwest cities are hardworking, passionate, prideful people who have been economically crushed by the actions of our government starting in the 80's under Reagan and you want to piss on them for doing exactly what any other fan base in this Country would do? What would the reaction be in Philadelphia? New York?

I recommend reading this article if you have 10 minutes to kill

    cleveland rocks!

although i support lebron's decision, i have been pulling for them.

i always believed it was lebron's chokejobs (2-18fg, 3-14fg etc) and not his talented cast that was the reason for 0 rings.

if the season ended today, cavs would make the playoffs. even media members that predicted 0-82 for the cavs are admitting they were wrong about lebron's former cast.

I think the funniest thing to do that you couldnt get everyone to do, would be just to not show up and let them play in front of an empty stadium.

I try not to be judgemental but the people I have seen on TV representing Cleveland look so trashy to me and they are doing things like lighting his jersey on fire and dragging it behind cars.

It is athletics, get over it I say.

They seem classless to me and I can see why Bron left, despite his tight knit group there.

    Steve, you should know better.

It's sensationalism. What do you think the media will show you? The thousands acting sane and normal? or the 4 or 5 burning jerseys ?

    Which will sell better?

I know I know. Just disgusted me and the people I saw speaking looked like people who should not ever be on TV, with all due respect to anyone Cleveland.

If you want to, we can get into a discussion about how the unions killed the area or the government in the 1980's. I grew up in the Midwest and the same backwards thinking mentality has kept them in the rut that they remain in. My point was that instead of a "woe is me" attitude or "we will show him through aggressiveness or violence," Cleveland actually had an opportunity here to market itself and remove the black eye that has been present for so many years. I get that people are upset about him leaving, and rightfully so. He broke up with the city after giving them so much over the last several years. But were they complacent with him and expected it to continue that way forever? Instead of crucifying him for leaving, maybe the owner should look in the mirror and ask what he could have done differently. I do not know the behind the scenes happenings and maybe nothing could have been done to save the marriage, but he can set the stage for what happens going forward. Dwelling on the past is not the solution.

You really want to compare yourself to the "classy" Philadelphia or New York fanatics in this situation?

Anyone I've ever met that disrespects Cleveland (and really means it) has always lacked substance, been overly arrogant, or have been just annoying to be around in general. Typically people who are fake, insecure or have some sort of obvious personality flaw. Sure there are people and pals who joke around and shit, but they still appreciate the city and its people. As far as the people and personality of a city go, Cleveland ranks near the best. This whole situation with the Cavs is sad to see but one thing is for sure... the "self-proclaimed king" brought this upon himself, not the other way around. And C-Town fan, do what you need to do... tonight is the one night you deserve a pass.

So if the Cavs fans ignored Lebron and just cheered like a normal game...all of a sudden the national perception of ignorant fukks like you have of Cleveland would change?

That's exactly what I said, your reading comprehension is great. Ignoring the situation is the exact same as threatening to assault him or his family. Keep deflecting and insulting others and continue not to acknowledge the national perception might be closer to reality than you think.

Some of my best friends are from Cleveland and they are loyal to their city but they also recognize the city's flaws. Every city in America has its own issues to deal with, unfortunately Cleveland doesn't too often receive national attention. More often than not it is negative. Wouldn't it be nice to get some positive publicity?

    Exactly.

Its like when theres the drunk dude at the bar that tries to fight every guy that his ex is flirting with it.

Its not that big of a deal.

P.S. Cleveland sucks. No good clubs. The hottest chicks there would be considered average in NYC, Miami, Vegas, LA, etc.

Dude... this isn't the positive publicity Cleveland is looking for. It was winning championships with a hometown phenom that was helping the cities economy in ways that no single athlete probably ever will again. No Clevelander gives a shit about what your saying and those that do never really cared in the first place.

My company has a warehouse in Cleveland. I spend 3 weeks there every year.

Terrible nightclubs. I'd rather spend 5 minutes in 1oak, LIV, or XS than an entire night in any Cleveland nightclub.

No. When LeBum said in late 2008 when Cleveland was at NY that July 1, 2010 will be a very big day that should have been a clue that staying in cleveland was a longshot. Cavs front office should have traded him then so its there own fault he left and they got nothing.

yes, they are still losers. but the feeling of seeing your players joke around with Lebron is like pouring salt on the wound. Simply put, Why can't they just ignore him and play decent game (lose by 10+ points or hanging around at least until 4th quarter)? Is that too much to do? Or all they care are themselves, but not the city/team they represent?

I don't feel bad for the Cleveland Cavs at all. Players can leave as free agents they aren't serfs. I understand why they are upset he left because he played up being from the area a lot (despite wearing the Yankees lid) and was their "savior" going to take him to the promise land. He promised he would bring a championship to them and they believed he had the ability to do it. They are disappointed, and I don't pity them.
