Just so you know and make your own decisions yourself. Here is a conversation on another site. Ben is the employee of creditwagering.

    Rissa says:
how long have you been in business?
    Ben says:
this site just launched last week. Our partners have been in business for years
    Rissa says:
why is there 3 different sites?
    Ben says:
    what
    Rissa says:
    http://creditwagering.com http://www.ipodprivacy.net http://www.spanishdrills.com
    Rissa says:
    all the same site
    Ben says:
those other sites are just traffic gathering sites
    Ben says:
no clue who they are but they have our pages and links on them
    Ben says:
there were 10 last week, now 5
    Ben says:
i think they use names that are not active for traffic building
    Rissa says:
so I can signup at http://www.spanishdrills.com/signup/
    Rissa says:
but yet you said you don't know what the site is
    Ben says:
goes to our domain, thats where it is pointed
    Ben says:
    never heard of them
    Ben says:
maybe they had the ip we have now before
    Ben says:
i will have to check with our techs..thats probably the case, as our isp is the largest in costa rica

    Ok you got all that.

Now the site creditwagering.com is registered at GoDaddy with their Domains by Proxy. Which basically means the owner wants to remain private. Now there are something like 1 to 3 million sites, I can't remember exactly the number, registered with GoDaddy's Domains by Proxy.

However, the IP address is a Costa Rica site, so you must search the Lacnic site at http://whois.lacnic.net

Which of course gives you this:

    inetnum: 200.122.132.0/25

Maybe the reason for all the different domains is to get more customers. if someone is searching for giftcards or ipod they might see the link to ipodprivacy.net or giftcardsgalore.net and click it. Then they see a gambaling site offering $1,000 to play with. This might lure in someone who knows nothing about gambaling, who will probably end up losing the $1000 and end up paying.

    Breaking News:

I just got off the phone with the OSGA. Here is what I am told.

1)They have a scam alert on cw right now and are advising people not to even sign up.
2)The guy said he has dealt with over 1000 sportsbooks and this is the only one who asks for the last 4 digits of your SS, asks for a personal question like mothers maiden name, and asks for birthdate. He stated with this information(and since credit is my specialty I know this for a fact) they can steal your credit and credit card numbers and everything else.
3)Any check you receive from them and cash will allow them to have your bank account information.
4)He said there are a bunch of kids i.e. guys in the 20s who are known for running a credit theft scam out of costa rica and this is their MO.
5)Godaddy was contacted and disavowed being responsible for anything cw does which he found odd as any sponsored legitimate site would be defended.
6)He said when they put out scam alerts the sportsbooks affected(if not a scam) always contact them but cw has remained silent which is found highly against the norm.
7)He said sportsbooks when registering take out a minimum of 3 years until the book expires. CW took out a 1 year lease so to speak. He said that is a first in over 1k sportsbooks.

I am waiting for an email from him.

    Here is the email.

    ***** OSGA Bad Bet Alert*****

    Avoid:
    Credit Wagering- creditwagering.com

    Reason for today's alert:
They appear to be a fly-by-night scam operation.

    Blacklist Notes:
We had received an inquiry on a brand new website where they give you $1000
in credit to play with. So, we checked out creditwagering.com. You only have
to send them money if you lose $400 or more. They will only send you money
if you win in excess of the same amount. The max wager is $100. They will
give you a 100% bonus if you post up funds.

    Specific Notes:
This website was created in December 2007 and their registration expires in
December 2008. The creditwagering.com website has no phone numbers to
contact and though they claim they are in Costa Rica, there is no valid
information filed within their Internet registration.

The website registration or sign-up page asks for the last four numbers of
your Social Security number, your birthdate and a common security question,
in addition to the usual name and address info. You can enter anything into
these fields and it will get you started. We entered completely bogus
information and were given an account. Why would you have to enter the last
four of your SS# if it is not going to be verified? It is because this is an
obvious scam operation. This is a classic attempt at identity theft. They
are dangling the credit carrot to phish player information.....there is no
    other explanation for this.

In today's offshore gambling climate, the business model of Credit Wagering
is simply not viable. Why would a loser ever pay.......

    Recommendation:
    AVOID CREDIT WAGERING

5dimes uses a 3rd party processor and they only ask for this information if you are using a check. CW is the only site that asks for this information upfront. Look, it is your choice to play or not. A few people have done some research and posted the results. The most telling fact for me is cw denying they have anything to do with the other websites that were created years before cw even came into existence. If that doesn't raise a red flag to you then don't come moaning later when you get robbed blind.

That is what I would do personally if you found a check cashing place willing to do it. However, the OSGA is under the impression that the main scam has to do with getting the other information for credit theft. I have done credit stuff for over 7 years. You would be amazed at how easily your information can be changed with the credit bureaus. I have been the victim of dozens of id thefts and watch my credit on a daily basis.

I am curious as to why OSGA didn't get the contact information from GoDaddy. Once they disavowed as stated above, they are no longer obligated to keep that info private as stated in their terms of service. The private service is an extra fee service they offer, but have been know to give out person information with just a phone call.

Now, one thing I would like to add. A friend of mine works in the repo business, reposing cars. With just an address he can get your driver license number, with that he can get your SS #. There are a few online pay services that offer these services. Just search around the web and you will find them. Of course they do a criminal background check of all members, but this is still somewhat scary. Anyway, all this about stealing your identity is so easy now-a-days it makes you really think about those new places that will protect your identity. Anyway, just remember, anyone who is a member of any of the sites that give out SS# can easily steal your identity.

In the long run, if CW is paying out money to the winners, it seems a rather expensive way to steal an identity, but who knows. Too early to tell...

I used a website that is used to track down email IPs to their original source(used to track 411 scammers). It starts in costa rica but when it tries to go closer to the source the IPs state either blocked, firewalled, or looped.

I don't know if this helps, but I believe their email IP is 200.122.132.69 I believe I saw this registered somewhere a few days ago, so I am not 100% sure if I am remembering correctly...

I'm going to cash my check at CheckSmart.

    I'll probably pay a $50 fee, but I don't care.

So OSGA thinks this is run by a bunch of kids, stealing identities, opening up new credit accounts?

If you think about it, that could work.

The amount that one can win is limited to $1000 a week, but that takes a lot of luck/skill. This keeps their payouts rather small...maybe $50,000 a week?

If they are able to steal your identity, they could have ************ opened in your name for $10,000 limits, probably.

    Hmmmm....

They have the last 4 of my SSN
    Phone #
my favorite sport (i didn't pick place of birth or mother's maiden for security question)
    My student ID

I asked live chat if I could on Monday night after I sent my ID, he said yes, I requested it through the site and it's been listed as "pending" since then.. I'm hoping by todays end it's sent out but I have my doubts seeing as how it's getting later. It would suck to wait another week.
Two days ago, i tried to withdraw some funds from my creditwagering account via their cashier page.
I asked them (via live chat) to cancel my withdrawal because i didn't have my ID scanned. This morning at 9:30, i got my ID scanned, so i decided to ask for a payment. My withdrawal request was declined. I got this error message "You have no funds to withdraw at the present moment." I said to myself, what the ****?! how come i have no funds to withdraw, i have over $600. Ben told me that i could only make a withdrawal during a specific period of time, between Sunday midnight and Wednesday morning (9:00 a.m). So, i was 30 mins late. I will have to wait until this Sunday to ask for another withdrawal.

They do this because they are short staffed..gives them between today and Sunday to work on all the prior requests and to try and settle monies owed...

i would understand if they would be as big as pokerstars or partypoker but they are not. it looks like if they want to hide something. every good sportsbooks has a phone number. why not them?

when you're in business, you must have a phone number.
you don't tell your clients "sorry, you can't call me but you can always send me an e-mail". it doesn't make you look serious, you know.

Why would you then join a book that is worse than the bad gambling sites? It is like a big bitch fest in here with the exception of some useful posts/updates.

who said they worst than the -F rated sites?

To me, when you run a business, it is necessary to have a phone number. it makes you look credible.

if you have a company, i'm sure you have a phone number.
