This morning I went to log on to my account and I couldn't. Said invalid username or password. So I had to jump into "live chat" and ask what was up. The agent transferred me to Tony, and he asked if I was using some automated software to refresh the lines. Which I'm not. So he reactivated me so I can log on. He was actually nice, wasn't a dick like most say.

Maybe I hit refresh button to many times the other day, I don't know. Didn't think there was any problem. I guess it was one to many.

Here was the message I had waiting for me when I actually got logged back on.

Greetings! We would like to inform you that your account has been temporarily closed. You were found to be abusing of the refresh feature of our lines. If you are found screen scraping again you will be permanently disabled from Internet access. In order to enable the Internet access of your account again, please contact us via phone, email or Live Help confirming you read this message and you agree with it.

I assume it has something to do with taking up bandwidth.

This could be a real problem if simply hitting refresh flags an account. I do it numerous times for live and halftime lines. There's no other way to do it as I see it.

Proper in game betting software has auto refresh/ live prices built right in.

5 Dimes has bubble gum software so you have to manually refresh page all the time.

this happened to me also. all i did was refresh the lines to get the live lines, as they came and went very quickly. I didn't even know what "screen scraping" means, and then the customer service treated me like dirt for "playing dumb" and trying to cheat... wtf?

Do you actually think Tony would waste time chatting with this guy to confirm that he isn't a DDOS hacker and is actually a customer ? Of course not. If they were concerned that this was part of a DDOS attack, all they would need to do is check the IP address and compare it to the IP address of existing clients - if an existing client had a matching IP address, they would know that it wasn't (in all probability) a DDOS attack.

If it was DDOS attacks that they were worried about, then after Tony communicated with the guy and determined that it wasn't a DDOS attack, Tony would have said "OK, carry on" ... instead, he said "Don't do it again or you're cut off from internet access".

The reason Tony gets pissed off is because he thinks the guy might have a bot program scraping odds in (close to) real time, thus giving the guy the ability to pick off any slow moving numbers at 5 Dimes during a line move.
