I am new to the poker game, but my friend who plays in quite a few tournaments has told me that it depends on many scenarios before he goes all in on a pre-flop. Chip count leader, how many are left at the table, and other scenarios has him not going all in on cards better than that.

ya but it depends on situation.
Typically all in with JJ is the right play, only time to consider folding would be, a raise,a reraise and a push all in infront of you or something along these lines.

Depends on so many things.
JJ is one of the most difficult hands to play. I tend to play them cautiously early (similar to how I would play 88).

If the chip leaders have already folded and you are the chip leader based on your all in bet then if you go all in and get called by short stacks you can live to play another hand if you lose.

I guess you think you should win every time, because you are so much better than everyone else.. Huh.
Clicking the "all in" button takes a special skill... Right..
It's not like you just sat there and waited to be dealt jacks... You did something more...
Jacks are 10's with a pretty picture on them...
More thinking, Less complaining...

depends on many things, what time in the tournament, where you're seated, how many people are on the table, what size blinds.

Whats the situation? what type of game? how many people have acted? how many people are left? Are you calling or being called? How much are you betting? There is no where near enough info here... even I know this and Im not all that great at poker.

if you're talking about SBR poker, it's not a joke. Most of these guys that play on SBR are horrible and to make the final table is consistently easy, from there you need a little luck to win though. I have never seen such a group of bad players as on SBR, consistently cashing takes no effort..

i think hes just curious if pushing with J's or calling an all in with J's is a bad play or not. Sort of like, you wouldnt call all in for your tournament for 2-2(well some people would).

I played in a WSOP qualifier. First hand I was dealt JJ. Went all in and I was beaten by 10, 2 off suit. I was not happy.

yea but you dodge and wiggle around and never put your whole stack on the line without the nuts and you will have chips built up to take a couple hits if these idiots try to donk it up on you. online poker is bingo all over these days, just the way I like it.

Doesn't matter what you do going all in with anything less than an ace is probably gonna bury you cause an Ace will hit. Going in with AK will bury you cause they will hit with their weak ace. Pushing with AA will maybe get you a win 40%. You will most likely be buried by a flush or runner runner.

I was told about two years ago that all the donks and fishes had been 'persuaded' that online poker was not for them. It seems there are still a few left.
Going by the above logic, KK is not a good hand "cause an Ace will hit".

Like others have said, it depends on a couple of variables. But any one of three different pairs beats you, so it's not as though you've got something that you're going to win with 99 percent of the time. Move on.

Slow play JJ, just a standard call or 3-4x bet. Go all-in with middle pair though, like a 77!

Assuming two players, odds of winning with JJ are 79%; with three players, it's 64%. Yes. I'd go all-in pre-flop with JJ.
