One day last month while out in Vegas I was shooting craps @ Silverton. I realized I hadn't put my NBA bets in yet and I had 20 mins to tip off. I found the Sportsbook @ Silverton, and it was a Leroy's. They had a little sign posted saying "This location accepts bets on..." blah Blah blah. Bottom line, NO NBA!?!?! I was like WTF? A sportsbook that won't take a NBA bet?

So I had to haul ass to the valet, get car, drive up to the Orleans all in 20 mins to get it booked in time. That was my 1st, last & only experiece with a "Leroy's".

It was a business partner, not me. I think it was Riviera.

I had Caesar's Palace refuse a sides bet on the Chicago/Indianapolis Super Bowl a few years ago. Harrahs and Leroys, they are a bunch of chumps.

Hilton is the Pinnacle of Vegas. Leroys/Caesars/Stations/Strat are the Bodog (square line with no changeover)/SIA of Vegas. Hilton plays fair, but they are tougher to beat as well.

There are about 10 books closer than Orleans to the Silverton.

Ed Roski who owns the Silverton owns a piece of the Lakers and LA Kings and that's why they don't take NBA or NHL bets.

That may be why, but it doesn't make any sense. Harrah's owns a piece of the Celtics, but they still take NBA bets on games not involving Boston. The Silverton definitely could take bets on those leagues if they wanted to.

Friggin horseshit. It's so illegal (at least in Vegas) but the Nevada Gaming Commission doesn't do anything. For the record, Vegas books have to take action on both sides of a line. They can't hang a -1, and only take bets at +1. They should be fined or shut down for this, but Gaming Commission does not enforce these rules.

How do you know gaming will do nothing about this? If you file a formal complaint they are required by law to do an investigation. Some of their past investigations have been incompetent, but they also could really put the screws to Leroy's.

Issuing a complaint about this could potentially help all Nevada sports bettors, complaining about it on SBR will do nothing.

It shouldn't happen often. It shouldn't happen at all! Even people who know nothing about gambling know that a business that is licensed/commissioned to do something should be compelled to DO IT. Book the damn bet.
