NJ/Hou/LAL trade going down

Melo is not signing an extension with the Nets, so if they trade anything of value for him it would be incredibly stupid. More likely they just realize they really suck and are trying to rebuild through the draft.

I think with the emergence of Shannon Brown Sasha is expendibIe. The 1st round pick is most IikeIy going to be 28-32 so is not much vaIue to them since they can easiIy attract free agents. Joe Smith has obviousIy never Iived up to being a #1 pick but couId be vaIuabIe in the pIayoffs, another big man that can aIso shoot a decent jump shot.

Not a bad trade for the Lakers as they can use another big man. Joe Smith is not a bad player to have on your bench. Lakers #1 is going to be a late pick and your rolling the dice picking that low.

Actually the Nets are getting Houston's #1 lottery protected pick in 2012. Trade looks better for the Nets now.

Great trade for the Lakers owner. He's saving 11 or 12 million dollars on the luxury tax, Sasha's contract + the late first rounder's contract. And that late first rounder would have a guaranteed contract and be the 11th or 12th man on the bench. They don't need that.
