I was looking at these two lines offered at pinny on the aussie open. i've been trying to crunch these numbers to find the value, but i'm having a little trouble.

which do you feel is the better way to bet this match ?

    R. Federer -6.5Handicap Games -114
    M. Baghdatis +6.5Handicap Games +104
    R. Federer -650
    M. Baghdatis +590

Theoretical hold on the former is 2.24% and on the latter it's 1.15%. Hence, the money line offers lower vig.

For future reference if the money line on the favorite is F<-100 and the money line on the dog is D>=100. then the theoretical hold as a fraction of nominal is given by:

        Code:
           100 * (F + D)
        -------------------
         200F + FD - 10000
Similarly, for D<-100 and F<-100, the theoretical hold is given by:

        Code:
             10000 - FD
        ---------------------
         100 * (F + D) - 2FD
