The score that jumped off the page: Egypt winning by 28 vs Mexico.

Egypt was +220 in that game.

Good stuff, Opti. I see that CAN has at least 4 NBA players on their roster.

This WOULD BE a great tournament. Per usual, looks like Top Guys sitting out:
    *FRA: no Gobert.

Opti, you think it's ironic that USA is playing versus JORDAN today?

USA a 41-pt Fav in that tilt.

OMG that is soooo ironic. The team that Michael Jordan played for is playing against a country called Jordan. DId they name the country after him? I guess it was ironic the previous time these teams met also.

Probably. But a second string team who thinks the title doesn't matter as much as their domestic competition, versus a motived team of first stringers who actually care about winning a true world championship is a recipe for an upset. Especially when the hungry team looks so serious and dominant so far.

When was the last time a USA team won a world championship btw? Not a baseball "world series" or calling yourself World Champs for winning a domestic club competition. But an actual world championship?

I don't know but think USA is not top of any major world cup level sport right now?

I don't think USA are less motivated just because Curry & Tatum aren't on the roster. Both teams have great camaraderie.

The one thing I don't like about team USA is they're extremely cocky. Never any humility on these USA teams! It helps to respect your opponent, whether you like them or not.

Canada will be fighting for their tournament lives vs the Eurobasket champs next game and we're not even in the KO round lol

Spain have so much experience. They know all the tricks. They hit all the big shots. I think you're safe though. SGA is rather good.

Going to be a classic in any event

Been a while since I followed Intl Bask closely. It's normally a great sport to beat.

Surprises do happen. Pays to watch the lineups.

Must say I'm not enamored with USA anymore. I thought Ingram would be the star. They have made that arrogant chucker Edwards the star and relegated INgram to the bench. This might actually be the year for Doncic/ Slovenia... only 3 wins away once you get to the KO round.

Ingram is an interesting player... can look v.poor in some games and then turn it on. I don't trust Edwards at all -he's not a patch on SGA imo.

    Oh Canada

Watching the upset vs Brazil on replay now. FIBA tv doing a short montage of Canadian players crying about the physicality just past the 6min mark of the opening frame hahaha

Why don't they have a pg in their starting lineup? Or in their rotation even?! The answer: politics. Gotta play the NBA players, of which none are pg.

USA with their own problems... Steve Kerr reportedly talked to Edwards about being a 6th man before the tournament. Edwards said no. Few days later Kerr, cuck that he is, is calling him the guy. Couple weeks later Ingram is on the bench so that Edwards can get more shots. BAD BAD BAD

Oh Canada on the ropes now. Spain don't even have a decent lead guard in this tournament but Canada are clueless...

This tourney shouldn't be called the World Championships, it's the basketball equivalent of AA ball.

^^^ Yeah USA not going to win yet another real world championship and the excuses and derision start. "No one else is as good as us"... but we almost never win any real World Championship somehow?!

Canada still look like the best team in tourney.

It's called the World Cup. It was called the World Championship back in 2010 (USA won).

Sergio Hernandez predicts Slovenia will beat Canada and Serbia will beat the winner. Hmmm

Let's face it, if Spain had Rubio there's no chance Canada win that elimination game. Their offense is horrible. They have Brooks & Dort to defend Doncic - two of the premier perimeter defenders in basketball - but they've neglected the other side of the ball. Slo are 8.5pt dogs.

A slo/ srb matchup in the SF would be a re-match of the '17 Eurobasket finals.

I think he's right, just to be clear. They were celebrating like they did something special after the win over Spain (in a sense they did; they qualified for the Olympics which is perhaps the only thing they're after all along). If the Slovenians don't get 'em the Serbs will.
