    As a West Ham fan this is obviously terrible news. He didn't have a great season last year but there was enough to interest Man City as to his transfer availability. West Ham have a small squad and the central midfield position has already been weakened by the transfer of Declan Rice.

    I don't expect a quick resolution to this case. Neither team, player, or FA are making statements. The last big soccer-betting case was Ivan Toney who is now serving an 8-month ban.

    The investigation is believed to centre around Paqueta getting booked in games, with the bets being placed in Brazil, and the 25-year-old will now miss World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Bolivia in September.


    Worse than just betting random games.... betting himself to get booked and placed in brazil.
