Usually Easy Money To Bet ‘Woke’ On The Oscars, But…..

Not a lot of ‘Bad Whitey’ flicks this year. Straight, white, (toxic) male Jimmy Kimmel back to hosting. ‘Everything, Everywhere, All At Once’ can’t win all of it, right? Especially best director. Here’s what I’m doing, no regrets & gives me an excuse to watch it:

Best Actor - Austin Butler - Even

    Best Picture - Top Gun:Maverick - +1600

    Best Director - Steven Spielberg - +500

Best Supporting Actor - Judd Hirsch - +3500

I might add something else if I ‘feel’ something (a.k.a. ‘have a few beers’)

    Good Luck All!

Really feeling that Judd Hirsch, was nominated once in 1980 for ‘Ordinary People’, and has never won. The guy is 87 - this might be his last chance…..

Oscars were trash until Will Smith slapped the shit out of Chris Rock. Big bump in rating now. Still trash though.

There’s no ‘Moonlight’, no ‘Green Book’, no ‘12 Years A Slave’, no trans-lesbian-people-of-color ‘struggling’ to raise a child - NONE of that crap. Back to having a white male host, and nobody seems ‘outraged’ about it. I’m sure the ballots are already in, so even if there’s any shenanigans between now and the start of the Oscars, it won’t count.

The only nominated movies I saw was ‘Everything, Everywhere’, ‘Elvis’ and ‘Top Gun’ - ‘Everything’ was weird and interesting, but none of them blew me away. I have ‘The Banshees’ in my cue, maybe I’ll get to it tomorrow - I heard it was good.

I’m open to any other insight on any other category - thanks everyone in advance…..

^That Elvis movie was fruity as hell and woke and it could win best picture as a long shot. That version of Elvis was very feminine and he wore heavy drag make up. Fits the woke bill.

Could be the sleeper movie for best picture.

Right now ‘Elvis’ sits at 100/1 along with ‘Triangle Of Sadness’, ‘Avatar’, & ‘Women Talking’ - might be worth $5…..

Putting $10 down on TOP GUN MAVERICK for best picture at +1400.

Probably should wipe my ass with that 10 dollar bill instead but hey I liked the movie. It was my pick for movie of the year and it was pretty solid.

What's wrong with John Travolta? Is he ill? Looked like maybe Parkinson's.

Everyone kissing up to everyone. I'm tuning in and out. It's pretty much garbage though.

Bunch of over the hill actresses and actors blowing each other.

This Asian movie which I tried to watch and turned off half way thru is cleaning up. I don't get it? That movie sucked and it had nothing to do with being Asian either. That movie was all over the place!

‘Everything, Everywhere’ cleaned up, including Jamie Lee for best supporting actress?!?!

‘woke’ rose it’s ugly ‘woke’ head, and when I saw Tom Cruise wasn’t going to be attending - that was the death knell…..

    Oh well…..

Kind of a surprising victory for Jamie Lee. I would have bet on Angela Bassett. Haven't seen either film as of yet. Anyway congratulations to all the winners.

I haven't made any sports bets since the regular college football season ended. Have bending futures in NBA & NHL , Should the Avalanche Win their division I'd be happy. Only watching not betting the tourney.

    Horrible movie!

I tried to watch it and turned it off 30 minutes in. Wasted 30 minutes of my life.

I'm convinced it was rigged as usual and time to give Oscars to the Asians and Indians this year. Diversity! Last year it was the blacks.

It's all about equity and diversity and not the quality of the movie and acting anymore when handing out Oscars. WOKE!

Tom Cruise didn't even attend the Oscars this year because he was probably tipped off that he would get snubbed again with Top Gun Maverick. That was a tell..

It was O.K., but I think it got a ‘woke’ bump for the…..

    **SPOILER ALERT!!!!!**

…..life ‘morality’ lesson they were ‘teaching’ us at the end. As far as movie plot and content, Elvis & Top Gun were way better, IMO…..

I contemplated watching the fat boy movie. I never got around to it. I'm also wondering if it was any good.

Probably a tear jerker if I had to guess.

Haven't seen the Top Gun movie, it's starting to sound like it's a good one though.

We might have a Top Gun marathon family night coming up.

That’s how I watched it.. watched the first one again since it’s been many years since I’ve seen it then watched the new one.

Glad I did it that way.

I saw it in the theaters. Gotta turn up the surround sound with Top Gun Maverick if at home. Big sound makes all the difference. Loved the movie.

Was thinking this too. We have a great system at home, so much so that we rately even use it to it's potential.

If we can get to the theater for it, I think it's the way to go but we'll turn all this shit up at home on Paramount+ if we have to.

Don't even have Paramount+ but might get the trial just for Top Gun Maverick.

But yeah, a big Los Angeles single plex movie theater, not the small multiplex shit, is definitely the way to go.

One thing I really do miss about Los Angels were the giant sinlge screen theaters.

The Fox in Westwood was a go to for sure.

These multiplexes are getting nicer, but the screen and sound just isn't the same.

Loved it when there was a curtain in front of the giant screen in Westwood, and it would open like a broadway play.

    Good shit.

I'm gonna turn up the base in the home entertainment system and watch Top Gun Maverick again tonight. That is after the NBA games I bet on are over..

Solid film. Action packed, script is well written, fighter scenes are second to none!
