I do. I write down “why I made the bet” on every single bet. It’s pretty helpful because if I don’t have sound rationale why am I even betting it? It limits my bets and gives me a good reminder moving forward. I learned that from KVB.

i don't take notes but i do know in my head why i made the bet and then if it fails i remember for next time subconsciously where it will pop up the next time i bet that team. i understand your point in the question.

in a perfect world i would document every little thing and betting would be my hobby. i just don't have the time or $$$.

It is time consuming. It’s my internal write up so to speak. It’s not a perfect system but helpful.

"Keep track of your bets and why you made them. If you do so, you will have information that nobody else in the world has, not even the most sophistacated operations, that is until we make you."

    --- KVB

For some, that's just a quick note on what led them to a bet, as they get more experienced the process of keeping track evolves.

For more advanced bettors, that includes your inputs and relevant weightings. Those that lead to bets are the bets you make, those inputs are the reasons you made them.

The info you can obtain by tracking your bets and why you made them is absolutely invaluable no matter what level of bettor you are and can uncover or reveal a great deal about your own capping style.

I keep track of all my bets, and even non bets for the NFL which is the only sport I bet. Every week, I pick a side and a total for every NFL play, along with a description of why I liked that play and put it in a spreadsheet along with stats I get from the NFL.com and helped with a pdf to excel translator to categorize the stats. An access data management program helps me manipulate the data.

I bet most of us find it too time consuming even just keeping a list of our bets and outcomes, let alone notes on why we made them.

Sometimes, the difference between winners and losers isn’t that much. Tasks like keeping track can get a bettor very far. This thread is the heart of one of the biggest piece of advice I’ve given over and over again at SBR.

”Keep track of your bets and why you made them.”

Unless you’re DDD or Manny then you have to keep track of your PETS and who the fukk keeps bringing them home.”

Yes. I watch the games and even if I lose, I'll check if there was a possibility of winning. For example. Sunday I had the Lousville/Miami O134.5. Game ended Miami 80-53 Lousville. There were 3 free throws missed. Both teams terrible from the 3point line MIA 27%, Louisville 15%. If it was ran again, I feel i'll be on the winning side. Same with football seems in the NFL o/u40 is usually under but I'm a sucker for those games, got myself a push on NYG/WAS even though the game was at a great pace for the over in the 3rd. Soccer as well, penalties are missed frequently or wide open shots. How about you?

Don’t forget the spiral notebooks, college ruled, and highlighters and colored pens.

Or maybe that one pen that has all the colors and you just push down the color you need. If you can get a quality one with a fine point it’s a Godsend.

Thing with the multi colored pens was the plastic always broke.
I used to use them all the time in the sixth grade.

    There’s a reason for that.

seriously, you generate a piece of information nobody else in the world has except like-minded groups or bettors, which doesn’t really matter market wise.

Remember, it’s not the information it’s how you use it; but in this instance it is both.

Seriously now I am sticky post it guy.

Use them for most all my notes, sticky's for my recipes, sticky's for my baseball notes, sticky's for my bets, sticky's as dividers in my notebooks.

I work 100 percent exclusively remote from home now, don't miss the commute to the office building in New Haven at all.
The only thing I miss is the supply cabinets, post its and highlighters as far as the eye could see. A geeks delight I tell ya.

24/7 but it’s more mental/photographic for me. I always say I’ll keep a detailed journal or diary but I’ve never gotten there.

Orgainze a spiral notebook page such that you can have a visual representation of what you are analyzing. I developed symbols of dots, x's, C, N, CF, NF, C-, C- v C-, etc. and even differnt colors to breakdown the leagues and action. That was the oldschool early years.

It took a long time to get it computerized the truth is filling out those pages manually means you have a better read on the pulse of the action.

For the mental/photographic part, computer systems might not be all that helpful, but the time it takes to fillout the sheets is brutal and can be a deal breaker depending on the league.

There has to be a balance and it's tough to find while actively trying to bet the markets.
