    It's a phenomena of the human condition and societal lines intersecting and there are many different type or forms of the "lottery".

    We see it sports and entertainment all the time. Young guns hit the lotto and unless they are taught or able to give their money to a responsible manager, shit happens.

    They can make enough to be set for life and not care because they think more will be coming in. Often they are right, for a time, but it always catches up.

    How come when a corporation makes a billion dollars in a year they pay 2 or 3 or maybe 5% tax… but when a regular person makes a billion dollars from the lottery in a year they are taxed at close to 50%?
    Asking as a Canadian who can't write off lottery losses & isn't taxed on lottery winnings.
