What's up players? Parents, How did children change you?
Mods can saloon this if necessary; I'm asking mostly in terms of gambling (sharp or otherwise). How did having children change you?
I had my first ultrasound yesterday and I'm having a bit of an issue continuing to bet (I'm a losing bettor). I usually lose and I'm thinking twice about continuing to lose now that Lil JayLa is on the way...those 50 bucks I'm losing could be spent on diapers...
Kids are an incredible blessing. My son has made everything in my life better. Enjoy all the moments. It goes by very quickly
It’s mostly over pal. I do bet on my kids youth sport league games though.
Kids come first, obviously. Step away and buy the diapers.

If yiur a degen and still need to gamble with the little free time you have make sure you set limits and not break thise limits for anything.
There are lots of financial responsibilities beyond diapers and food that come up fast. So make sure your saving

It’s a ton of work man. You need to set limits and stick to it. I don’t have the time so I drop into SBR to hear about the degen misery, The days of watching games with friends, spending time capping, betting a ton, etc… out the window.

we make bets everyday...i'm not that bad at those. I just sport bet on the dodgers and yankees LOL . i hear you though.

It’s not about the money man. You are only a fool and disgrace if you lose money and can’t provide for your kids. That being said with the money you can spare if all your time and attention is going to betting sports that’s more damaging then anything. Kids grow up fast man. And when it’s gone it’s gone. I still gamble, yes but I wake up early on Saturday place some bets and that’s it. Spend the rest of the day with my kids. Yah I check scores here and there but it does not consume me to the point I’m ignoring them and watching games all day. If you want to gamble gamble but your family needs to come first man.

Yes that's the actual ONLY way to win but you are losing out on the family. You lose that way.
I can make money other ways as well.

I teach my kids about gambling, implied odds, fading the public, math, etc. Shit my son's math teacher had a survivor pool this year for the kids. My boy was angle shooting his dumb friends in third grade. I had to tell him to be more fair when he set lines.

It's like any other habit/vice/release/drug - control it. I suppose that's even more important once you've got things like diapers and baby food to buy but not really. If you spend a few bucks on gambling or beer or cocaine or hookers or whatever it's fine (well maybe not the hookers with the baby-mama and all) as long as you meet your other obligations. Life isn't about eliminating all the bad things. It's about keeping them from disrupting the things that are most important. At the ripe old age of 50 I can report I'm mostly on top of it. I get close to screwing up at times but have enough safety checks in place to prevent it. Sports betting is fun for sure but I really don't spend enough time to research and have a prayer at being successful so I bet small. $10 parlays, $20 single event.... maybe $25 if I really think I've got an angle. I've found there's no difference in emotions with a $10 bet as $100 while watching. The $100 bet just hurts a lot more when I lose. Do the bad things in moderation and for fun. Congrats on the baby... it's the best thing ever. I've got 4 so I've been there (was happy with 1 and being divorced from crazy lady, met the too hot to pass on second wife and had another... okay, things are good. She talked me into one more and we had TWINS!! - that was 12 years ago and I'm still recovering... LOL - and luckily she's still hot).

They made my wife and I realize that we created something that needs us to survive and have a chance to flourish.
It is a responsibility. That's what you are already feeling.
It's all part of the circle of life Jay.
