New York Mets won't make it to the World Series

They might beat the Padres but the Dodgers will clean up the Mets.

Buck Showalter has never managed his team to a World Series. It has never happened and streaks will continue for him. Showalter had the East in the bag and lost that too.

“Had the East in the bag????” Seriously? Two (if not more) major problems with this assessment. First…well, it’s the Mets. Second, they were fighting to win the division against the DEFENDING WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS. As is obviously clear at this point…the East was NEVER “in the bag.”

Probably don’t want to be betting on the MLB playoffs, that’s for sure. I guarantee you that you’ll be shocked when you see who ends up facing off in this year’s WS.

the mets having to use scherzer and degrom early like this messes up the rotation for the division series as well as puts more wear on both pitchers. definitely not ideal for them.

All these years and mobile is still clueless. Not saying they will win or make it but the Mets at +1000 to win the world series is value because they are the ONLY team that can pitch with Houston and Dodgers.

Hearing they won’t use deGrom unless they lose game 1. If they win then he won’t pitch until game 3 (with a Padres win in game 2) or the NLDS.

I like Scherzer -141 in game 1. Darvish 2-5 in the post season. Not a big game pitcher

As well as the ex-cub factor, never a positive in the playoffs.

In the bag? The Braves went 78-34 in the last four months to nose them out, the Mets still won 101 games; can't blame anything on the manager.

Anytime you hear Mets all anybody talks about is the arms. How bout a fuckkin pat on the back for McNeil who won the fuckkn NL batting title. How bout a shout out to Pete Alonzo who almost died in the off-season and had a huge year. Of course scherzer and degrom are spectacular. The Padres are weak. I hope they throw snell game 2 so it's over in 2 and degrom can go game 1 nlds fresh.

The Mets tied for the third best record in all of baseball.

Stop talking out of your ass. Degrom missed most of the season and Scherzer missed 2 months because of an injury.

I went to Citi Field for the first time last week. The Mets fans I sat around were WAY more friendly than I thought they’d be (I was wearing visiting team gear).

Lobster Rolls and Pastrami sandwich there are aces. Great ballpark. Better food and concourse views than Yankee Stadium.

    Hitting always wins championships.

I dont care who you have pitching, if you cant consistently score, get guys on base, you will not win a ring.

Remember when teh tigers had verlander price scherzer porcello and sanchez all on one team, and all 100% healthy going into the playoffs?

Yeah, they lost. Cause they couldn't score runs.

Yeah, the only exception to that rule would be the human Swiss army knife, the greatest utility player of our generation, Ben Zobrist.

Ben played on three different teams, went to the World Series on all three teams.
To be truthful, Ben played for Oakland for less than a half a season, we don't count that.

There was nothing Ben couldn't do.
Ben played 2B, SS, LF, CF, RF.
Ben was a DH, a late inning pinch hitter, a late inning defensive player, a pinch runner.
Hell, Ben even pitched an inning of no hit, no run ball out of the bullpen to finish his career with an ERA of 0.00
As they say in the trade. "You can look it up"

Ben was there when KC finally broke their 35 year WS drought, and Ben was there when those whacky Cubbies did the impossible, win a World Series.
Not only did he help win the Cubbies a ring, he was the MVP.
Ben had a postseason batting average over .300

Rumor has it Ben could have walked on water and turn water into wine if need be too.

    I beg to differ.
    Respectfully of course.
Those monster Yankee team won with Mo, and Cone, and Pettitte, and so on.
Sure they could rake, it was the pitching that was the glue.

1995 Braves won with Glavine, Smoltz, and that Hall of Fame guy, Maddux.

Who stopped the Yankee bats in 2001?
The Unit and the Bloody Sock.
You have a pair of twenty game winners coming at you, back to back, one from the right side, the other, the nastiest southpaw you'll ever see in your life time, lights out.

Angels won it all with just two sticks in their lineup that were noteworthy.
    Troy Glaus, and Garrett Anderson.
Sure they had a few Punch and Judy hitters like Eckstein, that Angel offense did not keep opposing managers awake at 3am.

The Nats won it all with Max and Stras.

Giants beat the Royals with Bummy.
Royals beat the Mets with the greatest three headed monster out of the bullpen you'll ever see.
Speaking of three headed monsters coming out the bullpen, weren't the 1990 A's and the Bash Brothers supposed to be invincible? The Beasty Boys from Cincinnati shut that down. If memory serves, I think Oakland was -240 that series.

OK, I made my point, I'll stop here.
Sure there are exceptions to every rule.
But good pitching usually beats good hitting, not the other way around.
For every one title won with superior hitting and crap pitching, I'll show you two championship teams that won with superior pitching.

The proof is in the pudding.
