Indeed. One of the problems I had was, it was part of my routine and it helped me get to sleep at night. Once I quit drinking I had terrible insomnia. I was never a pot smoker, but I started smoking weed to help me sleep. It worked. Quitting weed is easy for me. Quitting drinking is HARD! I'm finally at a place now where I can sleep without either one of them and I can drink casually a few times a year but I don't get drunk.

Also was waiting for Gooch to check in.
I decided to take Sept off from the beers. I feel good now and am def taking Oct off as well. May be done for good.
I didn't realize the neg effects of alcohol because I only binged once or twice a week, but boy could I slam a disgusting amount of beers.
My advice to Musher is that if you can detox safely, buy those melatonin gummies and magnesium gummies to take before bed for a good night sleep. You will want those for the first 10 days or so. I did not do any meetings but for people that don't like AA for various reasons, they can try SMART recovery. You can attend them in person or find one online 24/7.

i put myself into a residential recovery program for 2 years.all addicts need this on the road to recovery-a clean and sober environment around clean and sober people.this road is a long and arduous journey.it is laden with pitfalls triggers relapses.you have to do the work.remember this.your life is on the line.

I would like to thank you all for your support. Yesterday, I started drinking early while watching soccer, I guess you need alcohol to watch soccer in the first place. I go on these streaks, but then I can go weeks without drinking. Today will be my first day dry.

I don't care about people saying they are addicted to this drug or this or that type of alcohol...... My father used that as an excuse and beat the piss out of me daily when I was very young. I laid a very disturbing beating on him when I was 32 and spent a year and a day in prison. If he was still alive I'd do it again. For me the bottom line is if it's ruining your life quit......if not....well then enjoy drinking yourself to death.
