Was that the dumbest coaching sequence in NFL history?

First, the Cowboys wait to call a timeout, setting up the Giants to take an endzone shot.
But no, the Giants go quick on 4th down and fail. So now the Cowboys can score, and almost did but missed the FG.

If these coaches are the best 32 in the country, then that is pretty sad.

If the Cowboys didn't call a timeout the Giants would have gotten a first down as the Cowboys didn't have the right personnel in place after Diggs got hurt.

Cowboys should have called a timeout immediately at about 15 seconds. Then the Giants must punt on 4th down rather than taking an endzone shot. They didn't think ahead.

But then the Giants didn't do what they should have.

    Clown show.

Yeah. It's dumbfounding just how stupid NFL coaches are. Why is that? Is it really that difficult to think clearly on the sideline? Or they just hire these guys to give speeches and shit?

The reason they make wrong decisions is because they have 20 different things to think about in real time, unlike armchair coaches watching TV and with the benefit of hindsight.

Not even hindsight. As soon as I saw 4th down I'm screaming to call TO immediately Last second half heave is well known. But then the play call on the next one was even stupider. What 20 different things? That's just a common sense play call to take time and throw into the endzone. No excuse.

We see these kinds of awful coaching decisions week in and week out. These don't even stand out to me

Only a very few you can consider to be good, the rest are all interchangeably bad

What the defense's tendencies are, is that banged up lineman going to be okay or should he be replaced, what did the defense do the last time we showed this formation, etc. Coaches don't have the luxury of focusing solely on the clock. There's a reason why coaches often make mistakes in their decision-making, it's difficult to do.

And this is why people say there needs to be a dedicated “time management” coach or something to that effect. It really though should be the head coach who puts this kinda stuff first and foremost because he’s put his coordinators in position to deal with these other “20 things” but they’re all so psychotic they lose sight of such stuff like calling timeout
