Klemo picks the entire 2022 season

I've never had a season long thread so now is as good time as any to embarrass myself in this forum. All spreads are current at the time of the post so HERE WE GO!

    Opening night

    Bills -1.5

Defending champs are dogs at home on opening night?

    That definitely tells me something.

See that's the problem. I don't keep all my predictions in one spot so... HERE WE ARE! I can say I was +$ all I want but if I can't produce any receipts then I'm just like the rest of these clowns on this site. I just decided to make a thread with all the picks along with the BASIC main reasons for the pick. Seeing the defending champs at home being an underdog struck me as odd and as always, the first thing I think of when capping any game is "What is this line trying to tell me?"

Not a bad start to the season.

    YTD record 1-0

I'll get to the rest of Week 1 on Saturday.

    YTD 1-0 Week One 1-0

    Sunday 9/11

    Early Games

    Ravens -6.5 over the Jets
I really like the Jets this year but I can't see them rallying behind Flacco.

    Saints -5.5 over the Falcons
Tough pick for a road game against a division opponent. Saints by a touchdown.

    Panthers (PK) over the Browns
    The Baker Mayfield revenge game!

    Steelers +6.5 over the Bengals
Too many points for a tough division game.

    49ers -6.5 0ver the Bears
Oddsmakers lured me in with it being under a touchdown.

    Lions +4.5 over the Eagles
Not playing the starters in the preseason haunts the Birds in Game One. Another game where the spread tells me something.

    Colts -7 over the Texans
Matty Ice has a chip on his shoulder this year. How much gas does he have in the tank? Enough to get past the Texans.

    Jags +2.5 over the Commanders
Doug Pederson will be good for Trevor Lawrence using a balanced attack. Another team I like to over achieve.

As usual these are the current spreads as found on Scores and Odds at the time of this post. I'll get to the late games tomorrow.

    The Rest of Week One

As always these are the current spreads at Scores and Odds at the time of this post.

    Cardinals +6.5 over the Chiefs
Too many points for a home dog who can light up the scoreboard. Mahomes will miss Tyreke.

    Chargers -3.5 over the Raiders
I like the home team in this high scoring affair, Chargers a legit contender.

    Vikings +.5 over the Packers
Rodgers misses his favorite WR more than he thinks.

    Titans -5.5 over the Giants
    Tennesee running game too strong.

    Buccaneers -2.5 over the Cowboys
Ancient LT Jason Peters starting for the Cowboys is a big problem. They'll be coming at Dak all day.

    Monday Night 9/12

    Broncos -6.5 over the Seahawks
    The Russel Wilson revenge game.

    Good luck everyone!

    The early game I missed

    Patriots +3.5 over the Dolphins
Belicheck finds a way to keep this closer than you expect. I say it comes down to a FG.

Well that was an abysmal 6-8 Sunday. My only consolation being the Eagles still won the game and Dak Prescott is hurt and needs surgery.

That brings my Week One (and YTD) totals to 7-8 with the Broncos (-6.5) giving me the chance to get .500

Not good at all but it could always be worse.

    What an abysmal week.

An early start on Week Two with some early line action.

    Texans +10 over the Broncos
Just way too much for a Week 2 line. This definitely drops during the week.

    Cardinals +6 over the Raiders
    Another line that's bloated

    Browns -6 over the Jets
The Browns defense should have no problem with Joe Flacco

    Buccaneers -3 over the Saints
This line will only go higher IMHO

And just to make things worse, I forget to post a pick for Thursday night which gives me an L for the Chargers game.

    YTD 7-10

    Week 2 0-1

Here's the rest of Week 2

    Ravens -3.5 over Dolphins
Hard to go against that D at home.

    Lions -1 over Commanders
The way the Lions blitzed Jalen Hurts last week against one of the better offensive lines in the league, Wentz will be running for his life this week.

    Jags +3 over Colts
Colts haven't shown anything yet. Always a tough division game for them.

    Panthers +1 over Giants
    The better defense wins here.

    Steelers +2.5
Patriots looked awful last week. Steelers D gives Mac too much to handle.

    Rams -10 over Falcons
Rams come back strong after a weak opening night effort.

    Seahawks +9.5 over 49ers
    Too many points

    Bengals -7 over Cowgirls
Backup QB tilts the scale here

    Packers -10 over Da Bears
The Pack should roll at home.

    Bills -10 over Titans
Tough to stop this team this year.

    Eagles -2 over Vikings
Best Bet is the Over but since this is spread thread, I'll take the Birds at home.

Three solid wins on the National TV game brings to a mediocre 8-8 for Week Two
    YTD total 15-17

Time to get on the right winning side in Week Three.

    Some early picks

    Bills -5.5 over the Dolphins
Only thing that worries me is the short week for Buffalo. That team is firing on all cylinders right now.

    Jets +5 over the Bengals
Bengals might win outright but they'll have their hands full with this Jets team.

    Lions +6 over the Vikings
This Detroit team can put up points. Let's see how they look on the road.

    Chiefs -6.5 over the Colts
Matty Ice looks cooked after the first two games.

    Rams -3.5 over the Cardinals
Is the Rams D slipping or were the Falcons better than we thought? I'll go with the Rams D-line to get to Murray.

    49ers -1.5 over the Broncos
I like Garoppolo and the under here (45)

Good start to Week 3, Browns taking down the Steelers

    YTD 16-17

    Week Three 1-0

The rest of this weekend's action

    Ravens -2.5 over the Pats
Tough going against Belichek at home but I think this defense bounces back after being embarrassed by the Dolphins in last weeks' 4th qtr

    Saints -2.5 over the Panthers
Another tough pick but the Saints have shown more life IMHO

    Titans +2 over the Raiders
    Going with the home dog

    Commanders +6.5 over the Eagles
Always a tough division game, I also like the over (47.5) Commanders will come out throwing, Eagles try to keep up.

    Bears -3 over the Texans
Coin toss IMHO, I'll take the home team.

    Chargers -3.5 over the Jags
Tough matchup for the up and coming Jags. San Diego defense is for real.

    Buccaneers -1 over the Packers
Brady wakes up to win this one. Still not sold on the Packers offense.

    Seahawks -1 over the Falcons
I like what's going on in ATL but I can't go against Seattle at home.

    Cowboys +1 over the Giants
Dallas clearly the better team, even without Dak.

FADE AWAY AT YOUR OWN RISK!

    1-0
    YTD
    21-26-2

As always the spread is taken from Scores and Odds at the momnet of this post.

    Vikings -3 over the Saints
It should be close but I can't see the Saints winning this with Andy Dalton

    Titans +3.5 over the Colts
It should be a close game and 3.5 just does it for me. That and I still don't trust Matt Ryan

    Giants -3 over the Bears
Another close one, Barkley is the difference in this one.

    Bills -3 over the Ravens
Bills have the better defense and it will show here.

    Texans +6 over the Chargers
Chargers having a hard time staying healthy, 6 is just too much.

    Lions -3.5 over the Seahawks
    Home field plays big here

    Steelers -3.5 over the Jets
Another home field game although I have no confidence in Trubisky

    Jags +6.5 over the Eagles
Pederson finds a way to take this one to the wire.

    Dallas -3.5 over Washington
Wentz will get blitzed all day until he figures a way to deal with it.

    Browns -1 over the Falcons
A scrappy Atlanta team might pull the upset but this Cleveland team has too much talent.

    Cardinals +.5 over the Panthers
Two inconsistent teams, only one has a good QB

    Raiders -2.5 over Denver
Only because Vegas is desperate here to get in the win column.

    Packers -9.5 over the Patriots
Pack is clearly the better team, even if Mac Jones plays

    Buccaneers -.5 over the Chiefs
You can see Mahomes getting more frustrated every week and that's not good. The better defense wins this one.

    Rams +1.5 over the 49ers
San Fran still has the Rams number but squeak out a road victory here.

Someone once told me the NFL is a league of ebb and flow. Some teams are rolling along, some are struggling. Rarely does one team get on that season-long roll. Injuries catch up, opponents get more film on your scheme, teams adjust every quarter. Turnovers and bad penalties are the biggest x-factosr in the league. One or two bad breaks can flip a game.

Out of all my picks for today, the ones I feel WORST about are

    Giants -3
Daniel Jones is so damn inconsistent
    Dallas -3.5
NFC division game and Washington isn't a BAD team
    Packers -9.5
That's a LOT to go against Belichek and I'm not super confident about the Packers.

It's always good to question your answers.

    Klemo:

*Not that you need me to chime in on these picks. I've been monitoring the IND injuries. They're hurting:

    1) All-Pro LB Leonard: out. He's the one people might miss.
    2) RB Taylor has been wearing a walking boot since the SUN game. Says he wants to play. But it's a short week. How much offense can he provide?

GL this week. Gonna be a tough one for the Colts to win.

    0-1

    YTD

    26-35-4

Let's roll through the rest of Week 5

Packers -8 over the Giants in London
Packers are shifting gears, especially on defense. Might be a rough week for Daniel Jones.

    Seahawks +5 over the Saints
I'd go the other way on this but the Saints are banged up.

    Jaguars -7 over the Texans
I like this Jacksonville team although giving up 7 at home might be too much. Should be close.

    Bills -14 over the Steelers
Rookie QB against this defense? Good lord!

    Falcons +10 over the Bucs
That's just too much to give a scrappy Falcons team. Brady is showing his age.

    Vikings -7.5 over the Bears
Vikes should score enough points to win this bet although their defense is absolutely awful. But then again so is the Bears offense.

    Titans -2 over the Commanders
If they can pressure Wentz then Tennesee should roll.

    Dolphins -3 over the Jets
Another scrappy team on the rise but the Dolphins can score with Bridgewater at the helm.

    Browns +2.5 over the Chargers
Chargers on the road don't particularly thrill me. Browns due for a good game.

    Lions +3 over the Pats
Lions banged up on offense vs Bailey Zappe? I'll take the points.

    49ers -6.5 over the Panthers
Baker Mayfield vs THAT defense? Even at home I don't give them a chance.

    Eagles -5.5 over the Cardinals
Cards defense will be on their heels all day. Eagles D might have their hands full with Kyler Murray but I can't go against the Birds here.

    Rams -5.5 over the Cowboys
I always like a dominating defense against a backup QB

    Bengals +3.5 over the Ravens
Best game of the week! I'll take the points.

    Chiefs -7 over the Raiders
Mahomes is getting in a groove and Raider offensive line is weak. Chiefs cover at home.

    Good luck everyone!

    Week 5
6-9 with the Chiefs -7 tonight.

    Let's review my picks

    Broncos -3.5 Loss
Matty Ice DID stink! Russell Wilson sucked worse. Broncos are pretenders.

    Pack -8 Loss
I can't go against these Giants anymore. There's something going on in NY.

    Seahawks +5 Loss
That last touchdown by Taysom Hill was ridiculous. This should have been a win.

    Jags -7 Loss
Totally inconsistent at home? I thought they were better that.

    Bills -14 Win
Steelers were overmatched. I had this one right.

    Falcons +10 Win
Another one I had right. Falcons are a scrappy team, Bucs sleepwalked through that second half. They look old.

    Vikings -7.5 Loss
I can't trust that Vikings defense anymore.

    Titans -2 Win
Wentz tries hard, he really does. But that offensive line is garbage. I feel safe fading the Commanders the rest of the year.

    Dolphins -3 Loss
Don't doubt those NY teams, not this year.

    Browns +2.5 Win
Ridiculous calls by the coaching staff. Browns should have lost but Chargers gave it away. Both teams are pretenders.

    Lions +3 Loss
That's what I get for going against Belicheck at home.

    49ers -6.5 Win
Matt Rhule is incompetent. Keep an eye on the Panthers next week.

    Eagles -5.5 Loss
My fault for going against the home dog.

    Rams -5.5 Loss
That defense isn't dominating as much anymore. Plus their offense is in trouble.

    Bengals +3.5 Win
Another coach who can't get his shit together. They should have won this outright.

It's that time of year to sort out the contenders and pretenders. Adjust the rankings and regroup for next week.

A few early picks due to lines I like.

    Thursday Night Football

    Commanders +1 over the Bears
The under (38) is the real play here but Washington can out up points against a good defense unlike the Bears who won't be facing that horrible Vikings defense this week. I hate Wentz but they do enough to squeak this one out.

    SUNDAY!

    Giants +5 over the Ravens
Former Ravens defensive coordinator "Wink" Martindale is now with the Giants and he should have a good idea what the Ravens do on offense. Advantage NY

    Cowboys +5 over the Eagles
I love the Birds but Dallas knows what to do with Hurts now that the Cardinals showed how that offense stalls against a good rush. Advantage Cowboys.

    Dolphins +3 over the Vikings
This Vikings defense is weak as diner coffee.

    Buffalo -2.5 over the Chiefs
The real play is the over (54) because this will be a shootout for the ages. Bills defense is the difference.

I'll get to the rest of the schedule on Saturday. Best of Luck everyone. Go Phils!

    YTD 33-45=4
    Week 6
    1-0

Here's the rest of the Schedule

    Bucs -9.5 over the Steelers
9.5 at home is just way too much to give even a weak ass team like the Steelers. Tampa has just not been dominant at all. EDIT: a TON of Pittsburgh secondary out. Brady should have a field day. Go Bucs

    Bengals -2.5 over the Saints
Cinncinnati is a better team than they look. This game means more to them.

    Colts -1.5 over the Jags
    Revenge game for Indy.

    Patriots +2.5 over the Browns
The under (43) is the real play here. But I see Belichek squeezing this one out late.

    Jets +7.5 over the Packers
NY just too scrappy to give them more than 7

    49ers -4.5 over the Falcons
Falcons get to see a REAL defense this week

    Continued......

    Rams -10 over the Panthers
First game with new head coach, no Baker Mayfield, Rams offense struggling, what's not to like? Edit There's a LOT to not like. I'm switching to the Rams -10 here.

    Cards -2.5 over the Seahawks
AZ just has a better defense. Hate going against Seattle at home.

    Chargers -4.5 over the Broncos
Chargers obviously the better team now that the cape is off Russell Wilson.

    Good Luck everyone!
