    What is a "service play'?

Maybe it's something known by a different name to me

That was how I found sbr years ago. Don’t check it often but appreciated the option when I was on tilt haha. Guessing legal issues not worth it?

    Attention SBR Posters,

After much consideration, the decision to retire the Service Plays forum has been made. While we realize it has been a part of the SBR forum for many years, it does not align with our focus on the legalized sportsbook market.

We understand the intention of the Service Plays forum was for information sharing among bettors. However, sharing intellectual property without permission from the owner is a violation of copyright laws. The Service Plays forum also became a recurring source of scams over the years – something we don’t want any of our members to fall victim to, nor does SBR want to be involved with.

The forum guidelines have been updated to reflect this change:

"The sharing of service plays and information from handicapper subscription picks is not permitted. Any such threads will be deleted, and the posters will be warned with a penalty to follow if it is repeated. Using the private message system to share service plays or in attempt to recruit members for ‘group buying’ is also prohibited."

    https://www.sportsbookreview.com/forum/faq.php

Our goal is to foster a community where bettors share their own strategies and insights to learn from each other and make the best bets possible. There are plenty of sharp handicappers in the SBR forum and editorial team to get picks from and we look forward to watching many more develop.

    Best,

    SBR-Team

How sad. People can't cap their own games and they need a tout to give them a service play to lose their money.

"sbr doesn't want their members to be scammed"

so they would rather have forum members PAY for picks?

if sbr doesn't want forum members to be led on or taken advantage of, then permanently take away points, or open the store... after 6+ months it is just wrong to encourage site visits/posting by giving something that may or may not be worthless

Definitely one of the most popular sections of the site but was a bit scammy to post those picks so makes sense they would not want to be associated with it since it was basically theft.

Sbr has been dead since they discontinued the service plays forum.

6 months from now I will be surprised if Sbr is still online.

    What a disappointment..

    Its a fact.

Sorry to ask this. I have been a member here for 15 years and never heard of this. What is service plays? Where was it before it was moved? Why I haven't seen it before? What is the use of it?

Touts. Not having heard of it shows you have a brain.

Its use is that if a tout gets lucky people will pay to see his picks and follow him. If a tout gets unlucky people will pay to to see his picks and fade him. It's a win/win situation for the tout and lose/lose for those who follow. The "service plays" forum was one of the worst things about SBR and I'm glad they got rid of it.

Lang with another loser last night, SBR should dedicate a thread/part of the forum to the golden goose.

Made for decent fade material but CHI_archer is right, getting involved with posting IP or copyrighted material is a big deal.....
