I’m watching the live feed it’s just scattered people and best horses and jocks in world and summer weekend

Part of the problem is it’s so expensive to go if you don’t live right around the place

It’s probably the lowest attendance in the country from all the circuits

My first choice of tracks in America is Freehold. Ever since the renovation in 2019, it is the premier track. I have never seen anything like it in ** life. Top of the line and no track even comes close.

You have not been there since the renovation. It is the premier track in America these days.

The problem with horseracing is the gambling landscape has changed. People are taking their gambling dollar elsewhere now. Most people are now betting from home, not at a casino, not at a card room and especially not at the racetrack. The internet has hurt attendance in all of those venues, not just racetracks. People got comfortable just gambling from home. Therein lies the problem.

The main question is, how do you fix it?

i think what hurts also is that horse racing used to be the only gambling people had access to. then offshore sports books came out and people were able to bet sports while not in vegas. it has even gone further with sports betting legalized in many states. people who have the (sports) gambling disease are not limited to just horse racing. horse racing used to have that novelty and now it is gone.

i need more entertainment when i go to belmont. i get bored between races. there is a ton of downtime that i think people do not like. happens with baseball too.

Horse racing has failed to capture young blood, mostly older people following. Race tracks will continue to close as real estate they sit on much more valuable as condos/aptmts and other type development. California thoroughbred racing will go the way of greyhound racing in Ma., Fl., etc., no longer existing. Small fields more prevalent today than ever (especially S. Ca.), people don't want to bet on five/six horse fields and that's before scratches. Dying sport in USA, not enough of us to support it. NY, Kentucky and Fl only states that have meets of national interest. Del Mar is always top shelf but horse population severely diminished. Oaklawn, worth mentioning but no turf course is a negative.

It’s a summer track and it’s only open a couple days a week that’s why, I think they should move New York racing to the meadowlands they were doing much better more centralized location

Went to Santa Anita on a Sunday last month. Ghost town. No young people, just old farts. Sport seems to be flat-lining.

Belmont Park right now is like SBR after they closed the store. The more it stays closed the less people stay here.

Why doesn't the industry think outside the box a little? Every horseplayer complains about takeout, so why doesn't a track promote something like a 5-percent discount on wagers made at the track? If you bet an exacta somewhere else, the takeout is 20 percent; if you bet an exacta at the track, it's 15 percent. Would more people go to the track? I don't know, but doing nothing doesn't work, either.

I love Belmont Park, but being there in a crowd of a thousand people is sad.

agree. there needs to be incentive to place your bets at belmont itself. comp dollars/cash, better odds, bonuses, etc.

Flying you ever been to Greyville.IL OTB, outside Evansville IN? Been gone for 25 years, where I hit my $4000 tri W/Ziggy Stardust at AP. Golf Paradise as well. 45 mins to Ellis Park, was there that day too. Got back to Greyville just in time to make the wager.

i play horses a lot i learned long ago how to hadicap them the flats not harness problem today is the books used to handica them cost $8- $9 but you dont see all races of each horse.

way back in 80's it was huge news paper size only cost $3 i grabed one monster lonshot at medowlands simulcast it was pouring buckets horse showed 10 races back on muddy filed won by 10 lengths odds on board 55-1 wam i got $5 across the board he smashed that field won by 5 lengths .......... guy after ask me how i picked him ...i showed him in racing form .... he says im buying that form from now on ...

HEY $2 a race you get lucky hit a few nice price horses 5-1 7-1 etc..
