I don't think there will be a major slump.
He didn't have a high percentage on base guy in 2017 like DJ in front of him, and he didn't have Stanton in 2017 hitting behind him either.
Point being, opposing pitchers could pitch around him in 2017, or make him chase.

If DJ gets on, and he does with regularity, pitchers have no choice but to come into Judge, unlike 2017.
You pitch around Judge with DJ on base, pitchers are looking at a potential five run first inning with that lineup.
You go down 5-0 in the first, forget about it, game over.

Plus Judge is such a great guy. Always doing stuff with kids and what not. He's one of those people who make you want to go the game.

Sosa and McGuire....best home run chase ever. Watching them 2 roid heads slug it out was freaking awesome.

Seems like the home run record lost its luster with all the roiders.

Only the third time an American Leaguer has hit thirty or more homers before the All Star Break in multiple seasons.

Name the other two American Leaguers that have hit thirty or more homers before the All Star Break multiple times, win valuable prizes.

my gut now says he does not do it. his "lower body tightness", boone resting him and his frigid cold streaks will keep him short.

i say he finishes with 56.

It all comes down to what Judge wants and what is best for his family.

Knee jerk reaction is to say Judge would be foolish to leave NYC, the guy is a deity in these parts.
    He's treated like gold.

You can't blame him if another major market team with money to burn blows him out of the water with a deal like LA gave to Mookie.
You know, a deal so lucrative Judge couldn't turn down and even the NY Yankees couldn't match.
What's the old adage, when they say it's not all about the money when the truth of the matter is it's almost always about the Benji's.

Most of here played the game at some organized level.
I played scholastic ball, a lot of us have.
Guys like Judge has been going at it in 90 degree summer heat since he was eight years old, sweating his balls off, running, batting, eight hours a day, I mean why shouldn't a guy like that get paid off for all that blood sweat and tears he put in to get where he is now.

On the other hand, there's the competitor side of athletes.
I played on some really shitty teams, so good ones, but some really bad ones.
I don't have to tell you losing sucks.
    Big time.

I played on a team that opened up the season like 0 and 11, might have been 0 and 14, it's all a blur now.
All I remember is it wasn't fun at all.
    It blew, like totally.

Point is how much money is enough.
Do you really need an extra 20 millions when you already have a guaranteed 100 million locked up.
Is the extra 20 million worth it if your team is going to be 70 and 92 every season with next to zero chance of bright lights playing in October.

I'd rather play in NYC with a lineup of studs and a lockdown pitching staff that's almost guaranteed to make a deep October playoff run virtually every season for 20 million less than to play in some big market (like the Angels) whose season is over by Labor Day and for the last month of the season are fielding a bunch of AA minor league hamburger call ups.

    That's not fun.
    Losing sucks.

But, have you guys seen the Polish Princess Aaron married?
    She' USDA prime angus moist.
Take it from a Polack, the Polish women are fine, and his wife is elite, if she says "honey, grab the gigantic long term bucks" what's a dude to do?
    Nomasayin' ?

I mean the GOAT (Bob Dylan) once crooned "money doesn't talk, it swears obscenities"
But if I was Judge (I wish) I'd stay put in NYC even if it meant turning down a couple of extra million to play somewhere else.

I could look it up but I don't like to do extra thinking on the weekends.
Judge is from the Silicon Valley originally if memory serves me, I think that's right.

Trout is from South Jersey near Philly born and raised.
He could have written his own check when he was in free agency with the Mets. Yanks, or Phillies, but Trout loves the OC life out there in So Cal.

I personally don't get it, no knock on my west coast buds, but I'm a NYC/Ct/Boston lifer, I like my 14" snow storms with those 20 mph nor'easter winds and 18 degrees above zero.

    But that's just me.

i could see judge taking a big deal somewhere else. just a feeling. esp now with a universal dh. when it was just AL then it limited him. now the giants and dodgers are hugely in play.

Thing is Judge is a stellar defender, with a cannon for an arm.
For a big boy, he can get it in the outfield.

Don't think LAD, as big a budget they have, are pretty much all spent out.
SF is a nice fit, he has so much raw power he can smack one out of Yellowstone Park.

Plus if SF lands him that closes the talent gap between them and LAD bit time.

i agree with nash and could see the giants being a big player in getting him

i like judge. i just feel he and his agent are not going to like the deal and look for the money.

he has the power to be like bonds for them.

i still feel he needed at least 35 b4 the break. let's see. that recent cold streak slowed him.

    Marketing terrible SF

His agent knows its NY ONLY

Way more off field endorsements NY as opposed to small market garbage pit SF

I hear you, but Trout loves Anaheim.
He's a south Jersey/Philly boy, he could have written his own check and signed with Philly, Mets, or NYY when he was in free agency.
He wants to play in California.
As long as he's happy, I get that.
