Tony La Russa has officially lost whatever mind he has left.

Intentionally walks Trea Turner on a 1-2 count.

I can understand giving Barry Bonds an intentional pass with the bases loaded, but to issue an IBB to Turner who's down in the count 1-2?

And muncy hits a 3 run home immediately afterwards.

    He should resign tomorrow

This will be the catalyst Muncy needed, he was very animated.

Yeah, I was going to mention Muncy, and the walk to Turner was with two outs...
    Beyond senseless.

Then walk Turner before pitching to him.
They had Turner on the ropes in a clear cut pitchers 1-2 count.

If La Russa walks Turner before even pitching to him, nobody says boo.

Never ever hire old coaches in any sport

They don’t have the energy to be successful

I missed this part of the game, and am still trying to find out how you get to 1-2 and THEN decide to IBB? As you say, you don't make the decision in a bad or neutral count, you go after him and then walk him with 2 strikes? What are we missing?

Is he still batting the pitcher at the 8th spot? lol

Christ... just move the pitcher to the 1st spot... so we can get him out of the way.

There was a man on first when the batter came up, the count went to 0-2 then he advanced to second on a wild pitch which made the count 1-2. That's when he decided to IBB; the rest, along with the Sox's chances of winning, was history.

I usually don't jump on group bashing but this truly doesn't and didn't make sense.

Pete Carroll had a good "old guy" run but then he lost it really quickly.

He was trying to look like the smartest guy in the room. We see it all the time with coaches in tight spots. Totally going against the grain in a "look at me" moment. You don't see it much in MLB but this is almost every week in the NFL where some dumb dumb can't even manage the clock.

Joe Maddon did it this season, also. It initially backfired, but the Halos rallied and won the game.

What's weird is that he could have just had the pitcher try to get him to chase instead of using the ibb. Maybe worried about another wild pitch? Idk

He issued a IBB on a 1-2 count?

I heard that it as a first.

According to an article on ESPN, it's the third time in the last two years that an IBB has been issued on a 1-2 count; the other two times resulted in an RBI double and a grand slam.
