I've seen Embid throw the ball to the assistant head coach who's sitting on the bench too many times to know he has next to zero when it comes to distribution skills.
He was fifth in the league in rebounds, a distant fifth.
Gobert and Jokic were the rebound champs this year, and Jokic was a fraction of a point from winning that title too.
Embid is an overrated rebounder, not shit, but not this all-great backboard cleaner some make him out to be.
While Embid did win the scoring title, he won it by default, that crown was Lebron's for the taking but he decided to rest the final games, he even said I don't need this to cement my legacy, my legacy has been sealed years ago.
James's words, not mine.
Here's the important part, Embid missed more than half of his field goal attempts.
That's horrendous for a low post center. Look at the field goal percentages (accuracy) the first 23 are all centers, with a few big power forwards in there, for obvious reasons, they're all low post players, with the exception of Jokic who shoots a lot outside of the lane, and he's still top ten.
Gobert made almost three out of every four shots he took (71 percent)
And he's a better defender.
Embid missed more than half his shots (49 percent)
Gobert made 22 percent more shots he took than Embid.
Liars figure, figures don't lie.
As far a defense goes, ask anybody who covers the NBA for the media, they almost all tell you, Jokic's defense has vastly improved, conversely, they all will tell you pretty much Embid's defense has dropped off.
There's a reason why Embid did not receive one single DPOY vote of any kind this season.
It's because he didn't deserve one.
