    Indy 500 - May 29, 2022

    "The Greatest Spectacle In Racing"

Never too early, almost the great month of May

Testing - no cars really looked "weak" maybe Andretti and Foyt... seems like a pretty open field. The Dreyer & Reinbold cars looked very good for the team (#24 Sage Karam and #23 Santino Ferrucci) Like usual though, it seems a battle between Penske and CGR

So far I like these prices

Jimmie Johnson +2500 (proved he can hold it and knows the track well, got into the turns surprisingly well...he is live)

Takuma Sato +2500 (2nd fastest lap with his ROAD COURSE car, 2x winner, knows what he is doing)

Santino Ferrucci +7000 (guy is just fukking fast and needs a full time ride)

    Any posters going except me?

    Wow Cudi. Jimmie Johnson really?

Glad you posted as never would have considered him at all, ever. lol But will watch him now.

I'm on Ferrucci train with you. Have wasted a fair bit of money betting on him over the years so he owes me one.

Oh boy Bcats. Jimmie has been so awful I wanted him to quit.

Be nice if Cuddles is right about him

I'm on Ferrucci train with you. Have wasted a fair bit of money betting on him over the years so he owes me one.
It's just tough not to, if he had no speed yesterday I woulda definitely been off it...but he was sending it. Personally I was pretty surprised he wasn't out there babying it. With his 6th place finish at Texas, he can run ovals well it appears (small sample size of course - woulda been 5th but gas problems so had to save the last few laps)

Same with Santino, but at +7000 how can you not

One thing to note is the raw speed which Foyt/Ed Carpenter showed without a tow was impressive, Veekay was fastest without a tow...but didn't look as good with a bunch of cars out there

I really don't hate the idea of a Ilott T10 bet, but not quite sure yet

JJ, its a month long party here in Indy for the Month of May

Also, Karam isn't a horrible bet I just haven't made it yet personally but those Dreyer cars looked good

    Final Day 2 Testing results

should be fun to follow, as usual. Always hard to reach much into practice performances, though. But the Carpenter cars for sure are always super quick over one lap, and will likely fight for pole again - but usually that's it then. Veekay is also pretty bad with tyres/fuel, so usually only stands a chance when he gets yellows at exactly the right time, or his (off-)strategy accidentally turns out to be the best one.

But well, yeah, I guess in the end it'll be more or less the usual contenders. But I'd also see Santrucci as one of them. Did he find enough money to get a new engine for the race this time, though?

Agree. Testing is just that... testing. Veekay has a huge chance if he can just be patient and not try to pass every car he comes up on. He is a really good driver obviously... just needs to chill and save his equipment sometimes

I think Dreyer & Reinbold is live this year absolutely, both cars

Tomorrow will most likely be rained out

Lets take a look at today's practice

A few things jump out at me

The Ed Carpenter cars (#21 Veekay/#33 Carpenter) and Jimmie Johnson had the fastest 3 non-tow laps (Jimmie stands out a LOT)

Then you head to the overall laps, Sato ripped an insane lap during the end of happy hour at 228.93mph to finish P1 overall vs Dixon at 227.76mph

Guess who was 3rd overall? Jimmie Johnson...again at 227.72mph

Overall, what I take away from today is currently the CGR cars are the best, no question about it. Andretti cars look a bit lost, Penske was taking a safer approach today as things got a little wild in the last 30 minutes

    Arrow McLaren, kinda mixed

Dreyer and Reinbold were not as impressive today but everyone has their own motives in practice, it's more about the car and figuring it out. They know they have fast cars but think they were dialing it in today more than trying to rip fast laps

I hope practice doesn't get rained out tomorrow, but it doesn't look good

Tomorrow for "Fast Friday", 85-90ish horsepower will be added to the cars and things will ramp up to the 230mph range

Winds will be 10-25mph and around mid 80s temperature wise which will create a tricky track which the 500 is anyways...but worse

People who almost lost it today(Grosjean like 3 times), will lose it and catch a wall tomorrow if they aren't careful

Sato once again ripped the fastest lap at 227.519

The combined practice results so far leave us with
    1. Takuma Sato 228.939
    2. Scott Dixon 227.768
    3. Jimmie Johnson 227.722
    4. Marcus Ericsson 227.094
    5. Rinus Veekay 226.995

CGR cars are still the best

Again not sure what Andretti cars were up to, but looked slow again

Penske was slow but I don't think they were pushing that hard

Arrow McLaren, faster than last practice (P6, P8, then Juan Pablo Montoya was really slow) - quit earlier than usual which makes me think they are happy with whatever they found going into tomorrow

Dreyer and Reinbold said they were mostly trimming out and testing for qualifying today so they didn't post any spectacular laps

    Tomorrow should be quite interesting
