Interesting casino fun fact I just stumbled on

What is the average amount a person loses gambling at casinos?

In the US, total casino gaming revenue in 2018 was $40.28 billion, which works out to $125 per person.
But only 77% of people in the US are legal adults, and only 30% of them visited casinos in 2018. So the average adult who visited a casino lost something like $500 to $600 over the year.
That figure is also about the same for what an average visitor to Las Vegas who gambles loses per trip. On the other hand, people who visit local casinos lose much less, on average about $50 per trip.

My knee jerk reaction was $250 before I opened the story.

What's interesting is the last sentence I highlighted in bold.
Makes sense though after thinking about it.

Excluding poker tournaments (which I play in about four times a year or so) that's about right.

I'm in Mohegan Sun about four times a year and Foxwoods just once a year (that's where the WSOP satellites are) it's poker only.
No side trips to the BJ tables, no dice, and Ally may kill and hour at the slot machines, no slots.

I used to go to Vegas when I was single and in my 20's twice a year for gambling.
Last trip was to see a concert, I played cards, yeah, but that wasn't the reason for the trip.
