All the shifts, pitch clock, and other rule changes won’t be possible until next year.

So essentially this year you have

    Extra playoff team each league
    9 inning DH
No guy on 2nd extra inning
    Extra series end of year
A few scheduled DH to make up games lost
Lottery end of season with 6 picks
    Option guys 5 times max
    No more regular season tiebreakers

I have to say, I wish they would keep the guy on 2nd in extras. I hated the rule initially, but liked it once I saw it in action. You already have a shorter spring training and quick restart. You have cut options down. Games were always over within a couple innings under that rule. Anyone ever been to a game that lasted over 12 innings? They are unbearable. They would never go the Jap route of a tie, but artificially ending the game as soon as possible in a 162 game season seems to be reasonable.

Shohei Ohtani will next be a Dodger with the new DH rules.

Doubtful, he signed with the Angels for several reasons.
One of them being culture is priority number one for him and he loves the Angels culture.
It was going to be Seattle or Angels and nobody else.

I never say never, but Trout and Ohtani are Angel lifers.

    Nash

What do you think about the guy on 2nd base in extra innings? I’m the only one who seemed to like it. I don’t want to see Brock holt throwing 30 miles an hour in the 15th inning. Especially with the options rule, I think they should have kept it

    Hated it.

One way to counter it, if your fireball strikeout artist gets the leadoff batter, have him intentionally walk the next batter.
Making it first and second, one out.
Than you hook the strikeout artist for your groundball, double play inducing reliever.
    6-4-3 end of inning.

    I respect your knowledge Nasher.

I think that’s noble of him, but after being overworked, driven to injury, and being consigned to a culture of losing, he will come to terms that everything is for sale and play for a team with more talent, a winning culture, and deep pockets.

    Side note -
Not that it’s easy to duplicate an Ohtani, but with the league wide DH rules, a player who can be a 6 tool player is going to be the hottest commodity and change the game in ways we haven’t seen. Can you imagine throwing a no no and hitting the game winning Homer? How about hitting for the cycle and breaking the strike out record?

Super heroes in the making. It will be interesting to see if some elite few train to follow his lead.

Thanks for the words by the way.
Like I said, I never say never.

Trout for instance, he's a south Jersey boy.
Upon free agency he could have signed for gazillions with Philadelphia, close to where he grew up, and both NY teams.
There must be something to that "Angels culture" he chose to remain.

I do know the entire Angles organization totally respects and is big on the Asian players, and Ohtani loves that.

What is your definition of spot plays?

How many plays per season to be specific (roughly)

I know the UK a spot bet in soccer could mean an individual event happening during a match.
Thus a spot bet could mean at what time (or 'spot') the first goal will occur.

In MLB I'll seek out a specific game whew a superior team struggles against say a a lefty curve ball artist for instance.

Let's use the Dodgers against say the Marlins.
LA is -180 on the road in Miami but really struggle against a lefty that throws like 'John Doe' a slow delivery curveball pitcher

In my write up I'll say something like "I like Miami at + money, in this spot"

I will on occasion bet a two team chalk money line parlay using two aces, taking the bite out the books edge.
And I would occasionally bet an ace run line on the road, I'll never bet a favorite at home though on a run line.
Because the extra inning rules changed last year, I had to adjust those bets for obvious reasons.

I'll make usually four or five bets a week.
