    You could just see in Franklin's demeanor from the camera shots.... he looked worried throughout the entire game... wasn't typical Franklin confidence. Hence the fake punt and fake field goal. It's like he knew he needed a couple of surprise gadgets to win... didn't want to play Michigan straight up.
