Pete Rose is a brand. When you consider all the new "rec gamblers" these days? This will be a huge profitable success for Pete, as they are buying the Pete Rose brand

Stop it.. That's like saying nobody bets on SBR and Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley never bet on sports after they retired. It's in their blood. Pete gambles his ass off daily and I'd bet on that!! He's an action junkie. He got banned from baseball for life for gambling.

He was 45 then. He is 80 now. I doubt seriously he is interested in gambling or follows sports much anymore.

He also does not need any money. He can make millions signing autographs and making personal appearances. This is easy money and probably a finger at MLB.

Pete looks good for 80 though. He could still play the first game of a doubleheader.

Exactly, PI. If Pete is enjoying life, props to him.

He never forced anyone to pay for his autograph. That's the price the market will bear.

PI...just for you. A Pete Rose story. Maybe you've heard it, maybe not:

*Go back to the mid-70s. Pete is in his prime. Time is just after Jim Bouton released his book "Ball Four".

The players didn't like it. Granted, most didn't even bother to read it. But they viewed Bouton's expose as a violation of their privacy.

Compared to modern writing, it was tame. Bouton documented team meetings and travel. Specifically, he portrayed the players as drinkers and womanizers. Also, b/c many went from Hi-school to Minor Leagues...he showed many to be un-educated. Honest exhibits, but the players didn't like it.

As one of the biggest names, Rose spoke his dissatisfaction. Rose thought Bouton violated an unwritten rule to not convey that info. Anyway, Rose is batting vs RHP Bouton.

Pete bangs a ball into the gap, to the wall. Stand-up double. Bouton walks toward CF to retrieve the ball, he's standing 10 feet from the 2nd base bag. As he catches the ball, Pete shouts at Bouton: "Fu-ck you, Shakespeare!"

Bench has commented on this. Bench says No. If u have the rule on the wall and u blatantly violate it, it's on you.

Selig has commented the same thing. Don't think it's gonna happen.

Elderly people love the gambling action that's why they play in bingo tournaments, play the nickel slots in every Casino in Vegas, etc.

lol. If this guy played in todays era he would be making hundreds of millions of dollars. Guy signed a 4 year/$3.2 million dollar contract at 37 years old that made him the highest paid player in baseball in a time baseball was by far the most popular sport in the US.

there is literally NO moral high ground in this country any longer

if Stephen Carlton Clark were alive today he would of said put him in

whatever it takes Rose has to be enshrined while he is still barely alive

PI...since u love the Rose stories, got another one for u. Hasn't been told too often.

Game 6 of the 1975 WS. Classic game, Carbo hit the 3-run HR to tie it. Reds lead series 3-2, trying to lock it up.

Story told from perspective of CARLTON FISK. 12th inning, Fisk says that he's very nervy. Season on the line, on a knife's edge.

Rose comes to bat, top 12th. You know Rose, guy is loose as a goose. Says to Fisk: "Fisky, can you believe this? This is the greatest game in the history of baseball. And we're playing in it!"

Fisk said that took the edge off and that he relaxed. Pat Darcy had thrown a good 11th but he was shot. In the 12th inning warmup, Bench knew that Darcy was shot but the worn-out pen had few options left.

Fisk gets the pitch from Darcy, smacks it down the left-field line. Classic Fisk wave, begging it to stay fair. Foul-pole, home run.

On the walk out of the clubhouse, Pete tells Sparky "Was that great? Or what?"

Sparky tells him "Peter Edward Rose, have you lost your mind? We lost."

Rose says "Don't worry about it. We'll win tomorrow."

    Hahaha. What's wrong w/ that?

That's probably why the casino execs give him such a sweet rental agreement. They know it's a Net +EV for them.
