100% agreed. guy is OK. gets hot but mostly cold. can't hit the low strike. never adjusts his swing - constant uppercut. i do not want him resigned for a lot of $$$.

his great year was a lot of luck and pitchers didn't know how to pitch him. now they do.

Usually once player lock up retirement contract underperform. Unless that player has high values and work ethic...like trout. Players that hold conservative values, still continue to perform well after locking up retirement type contract that sets them up. But liberal/left value players mostly fall apart after a monster retirement contract. This is more evident in baseball because you can make the game that easier, even though they try, like in baseball or football. Look at lindor...signs a 10+ year retirement contract worth over 300 million and now playing worse than a minor leaguer. I am sure he will rebound and have reasonable seasons but he will never have a season that is worth his yearly salary again....with all the money, his priorities and focus will be elsewhere.

One trick ponies like judge, sano, sanchez, chris davis etc who are not willing to adapt their fundamentals (or don't have the talent to adapt) will always be streaky and in some cases they will never climb out of the streak. Any player that is has contact % in the the 60's are in the risk category. Sub sixties and in the 50s percentage contact% are very high risk. Unless they make changes to improve their approach, opposing pitchers will make adjustment to nail them most of them time. This is where a good, modern hitting coach came make a difference in player's performance assuming that the player has some underlying talents that he is not tapping into.
