    XFL and CFL are merging????

    Two leagues enter into formal talks exploring potential for collaboration and innovation to grow the game of football


    TORONTO & Greenwich, CT - The Canadian Football League (CFL) and XFL owners Dany Garcia, Dwayne Johnson, and RedBird Capital have agreed to work together to identify opportunities for the leagues to collaborate, innovate, and grow the game of football.

    Statement from Randy Ambrosie, CFL Commissioner:

    “Canada has an exciting game and devoted fans, and our discussion with the XFL provides a tremendous opportunity to build on that strong foundation. We look forward to exploring how we might work with one of the most innovative sports brands in the world to grow the game, engage fans in new ways, and reach new audiences. We look forward to seeing what possibilities our discussions might uncover, and to sharing those with our fans as the process unfolds.”

    Statement from Dany Garcia, XFL Chairwoman and Owner:

    That would be really smart. There are a lot of NFL markets open and if the XFL would drop its gimicks it has a chance to be pretty successful.

    It wasn’t a merge it was expansion..I remember the Miami Manatee in the CFL for some reason that name stuck with me. .

    They were in financial before the Kung Flu, and now it's worse. Same for some individual teams.

    Does the CFL have a requirement that a certain percentage of players have to be Canadian? That would not work. I don't see this happening though. Neither side is smart enough to make a go of it. You've got to play for keeps and steal away NCAA talent. They are not going to do that.

    Even if by miracle they do play they are scared shitless to allow any fans in the stadium. Not a good a plan when you're already broke and most of the revenue comes from paid attendence. I read an article saying that it would be better off for them to cancel this year and try to play in 2022.

    Yes they do have a "ratio" rule requiring teams to have Canadian players.

    I fully supported that league and bet it. I made money off XFL. I loved it!! Bring it back I say even if it's a merger of leagues!!

    CFL starts in Late June, goes until the sunday after Thanksgiving. Can't see them ever moving those dates
