    what?

you must be a bitter fool hardy fantasy owner that went way over board on hype

this guy never gets this many targets in one half, even years ago. He's super renowned for being boom or bust, but he just had a pretty solid half with more targets than any other play on the field

I may try to make a trade in some of my leagues for this guy since I see squares are under valuing him

A tight end who can catch AND block can be the difference in games.

he was pretty good today outside of the pick 6, still wouldn't put too much trust in him or the Bucs at this point though

gronk is more of a decoy and blocker. he will kick it up when needed later on.

Who gives a fuk? To those of us who have suffered with this team the only numbers that matter are 3-1. "Stats are for losers" has been the Bucs motto the last 15 years. Al Davis said it best...

Let's add a few columns, see how he was used. He has no TD's yet and I included the longest so you can see, to an extent how he was used. We could even add more.

For example he has been used 5 times on first downs this season, twice today.

Today, he was targeted 3 times. All at key times. The first was on a 1st and goal from the 6 with less than 40 seconds on the clock, trailing 10 points. Then again early in the fourth on a 1st and 20 situation, ahead 4 points.

Finally, inside 5 mintues, on 2nd and 11 from midfield he catches a 29 yarder that leads to FG to go up 7 points and push the spread.

We can go down the rabbit hole of Gronkness if we choose, it is better than just overall stats.

But here we can see a contribution to the team as a whole, even if it doesn't really describe his contribution in today's game, inside 5 minutes in the 4th.

    Gronk Team %
Game Target Pass Att Rec Yds Longest Avg Pass Yds Total
    NO 3 36 2 11 9 5.5 239 4.40%
    CAR 1 35 0 0 0 0 217 0.00%
    DEN 7 38 6 48 10 8 285 14.41%
    LAC 3 46 1 29 29 29 369 7.29%
    Totals 14 155 9 88 42.5 1110 7.35%

Even from this info, we can derive more out of it, like yards per target and I'm basically saying everything in the box score above, and what I'm saying above can be relevant, even the times, and downs.

But most important are comparisons, to Gronk Brady of year's past, but to tight ends as a whole, and the league as a whole...Especially if you want to measure whether he is worth the money, but I'm sort of talking capping here.

Even then, you need to adjust for the defense that is played. Some of that can be noise though, as patterns can develop. But I'm talking about comparisons across every stat and metric considered.

Brady has some star recievers down, that has to be thought about, especially when you use the team info and watch how a team evolves through the season. If you know where a team has been, and know where they are, you have a better chance of knowing where they are headed. This is true of the market and the teams as well.

Easily, the rabbit hole of Gronkness can merge into the rabbit whole of NFL as a whole.

We don't want to miss the forest because we're stuck looking at trees.

From all of that we can derive a WAR type value to assess the player's contribution to a team.

Then we send that to the team's front office and that's, along with a squeaky wheel type agent wo works on commission, is how they can help formulate his value.

    Sort of.

What he didn't do was throw a pick six, followed up by an almost pick six. He didn't turn the ball over at all. Passing yards mean jack squat. We Tampa fans watched the Bucs lead the league in passing last year, and all we have to show for it is another losing record and an NFL first, 30/30 tds/ints. Yeah, we miss Winston

What did Brady do? He brought accountability to a team that already had talent. Love him or hate him, dude commands respect. And it's evident in how they responded after that shitty penalty filled performance in Chicago. Winston yells at them they roll their eyes and wait for the next dumb throw.

Keep the fantasy stats, we're perfectly happy with a "game manager" and a kick ass defense.

    you missed my whole point

    it was 10 zip

then next time brady took field his team was only down 3 and he had a short field to work with

he did very little to get that short field td then didn't have to do shit with any pressure rest of game because packers never scored again

he's old as fuk and won't win shit

I get your point and I watched the game. Been watching them since the beginning. And you missed my point. Last year, same circumstances with Winston at qb they lose that game, possibly get blown out. Culture change is a real thing. Seen it here when Hardy Nickerson was brought in, same with Tony Dungy. They might not win shit, but they're chances are a hell of a lot better now and we're good with that.

Look at NE now. CBS still sending Nantz and Romo to these awful games to kiss Belichick's ass.
