Possibly Dubois is a better defensive forward and more of an up and coming player, but Laine is a sniper.
    Thoughts?

Why'd Jets give up so much?

Dubois was finished in Columbus after dogging it

Lainne had made it clear he wanted out before the season. Both were in toxic situation so it made sense. Former 2nd and 3rd picks overall in the draft where Matthew’s went 1. Fair trade imo. Jets also got a 3rd rounder I believe

I was reading about this earlier.
I don't follow NHL close enough as to who made out on this deal.

Shame, I wish I had the time to follow NHL but MLB consumes all of my disposable time.
Hockey is a great game though, it's poetry in motion with hip checks and fist fights.

Okay. Didn't know they got a 3rd rounder. I watched Dubois against TB in playoffs last year. I thought he was pretty good. Laine is a star on the right team with players around him Immho. Better to have a player gone that doesn't want to be there and get something decent for him. Dubois isn't a bumb. Dude can play. Still think they could've got more?

Laine is the type of player you regret trading. The other guy pouted his way off the team.

Columbus got the better of it.

Obsession with centers in the NHL nowadays might have played a role why Winnipeg made this deal.

Columbus got the way better deal here. If Laine stays healthy. Has been injured some the last 2 years..

I agree with some of the comments here, but think sending Pierre-Luc Dubois to Winnipeg is somewhat of a punishment, because staying / living in that city is not high on the list.

He is originally from Quebec, so it's possible he doesn't mind at least playing for a Canadian team.

Still, I wouldn't be surprised if he is not thrilled with finding himself there now.

It might be a salary move by Winnipeg too being they are a Canadian team.
